Job summary
Sue Ryder is looking for a Registered Nurse to join us in our purpose built state of the art Neurological Care Centre. The centre is based at the heart of a community and includes 40 fully accessible en-suite rooms, over three floors. Your role will work collaboratively with the nursing team and the wider multi-disciplinary team in order to provide an integrated, proactive and high quality service. Later this year The Disabilities Trust will take over the ownership of Sue Ryders four neurological services, including this centre and all staff employed by Sue Ryder at that service will transfer to The Disabilities Trust. The Disabilities Trust supports people with acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities and other neurological conditions and the acquisition of Sue Ryder's neurological services is a natural extension to the services the Trust currently provides.
Main duties of the job
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care using evidence based guidelines.
To work collaboratively with the inter-disciplinary team to deliver high quality care.

- Registered Nurse, preferably with experience in neurological care.
- Relevant post-registration training or willing and able to gain within 1 year.
- An ability to demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
- Awareness of current legislation within independent care sector.
- Completion of NMC recognised accredited mentor training and able to mentor students and less experienced staff.
- Commitment to service user involvement.
- An ability to implement and monitor clinical standards.
- Demonstrable interest in the client group.
- Proven ability to build and lead an effective team.
- An ability to actively support and participate in change.
- An ability to work in a complex and stressful environment demonstrating effective and appropriate coping strategies.
- A prompt response to problems, including identifying and implementing solutions.
- An ability to use own initiative in an unsupervised setting.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Willing and able to have a flexible approach to working patterns.
