Job summary
A new and exciting
opportunity has arisen for a Senior Childrens Support Assistant to join our Clinical
Services Team. This role will require the successful candidate to work in a
team of registered nurses and Children Support Assistants on one of our residential
houses of eight children and young people under the management of the House
Manager.
You will lead shifts
and will deliver care (including giving medicines dispensed by our pharmacy) to
the Children and Young People allocated to them (not IV or injections). There
is always a senior registered nurse on site for clinical and managerial
support.
Main duties of the job
We recognise that the
specialised needs of our Children and Young People mean that most people we
recruit will require additional training. We will recruit people with a
relevant background in health or care and offer training to meet the
competencies required by us and in accordance with the Regulated Qualifications
Framework (RQF). CSAs recruited with the intention of developing into a Senior
CSA role will be in a probationary period of six months to allow time for this.
They can be promoted to a Senior CSA level as soon as they have achieved the competencies
if this takes less time.
The competencies will
cover all aspects of the day-to-day care of our Children and Young People
according to their care plan - including personal care, eating and drinking,
emotional care, communication, moving and handling, recreational and social
activities, and giving medications. It will also include learning the
requirements of managing the House for a shift. A development programme will be
tailored to each person depending on their previous experience and learning
needs.
