This is an exciting time to join our Complex Emotional Need (CEN) service in Nottingham.
At Turning Point, we are recognised leaders in provision of service for people with substance use and mental health problems. Right now, we are looking for an HCPC Registered Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist to help ensure the provision of an evidence-based, compassionate approach to those in our communities with difficulties often associated with a Personality Disorder diagnosis.
This Practitioner Psychologist post is key to the delivery of the CEN service model in the Nottingham area. In addition, they will support our team of Assistant Psychologists and Peer Support Workers to provide high quality individual and group sessions and support for people accessing our service.
Our CEN service is comprised of a friendly and committed team who is passionate about working with and advocating for people experiencing significant mental health difficulties. It offers a skills-based programme and support to people with emotional regulation difficulties based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and motivated to work collaboratively with service users, local mental health teams and other services/professionals to ensure individuals have access to high quality services and interventions.
Main duties of the job
This is a varied position with a range of opportunities to support the ongoing development and implementation of the CEN pathway in the local area. They will be required to contribute specialist psychological knowledge and leadership skills to support the service in the provision of specialist assessment, risk assessment and management plans and the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based programme aimed at supporting the individuals accessing our service. They will also offer clinical guidance, supervision, and training to a team of Assistant Psychologists and Peer Support Workers and where helpful, offer clinical formulation and consultation to teams to enable individuals to access more specialist support options, where appropriate, including Structured Clinical Management (SCM), and Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) (offered externally).
The post holder would be expected to bring a range of experience and skills working with this client group such as consultation to non-psychologists, and will have clinical oversight of the teams caseload, particularly those who may present in crisis and/or at risk of hospital admission. They will also use their expertise to work closely with the service and locality manager [AL1]to help ensure robust governance and build effective links with local statutory and voluntary service providers to improve co-ordinated support. Training in, and experience of applying therapeutic models working with this client group would be an advantage.
