At Turning Point we provide services across the whole country which deliver end to end drug and alcohol treatment and support, family services, housing advice and support for those in contact with the criminal justice system, needle exchange services, and custody outreach. We are specialist in delivering whole treatment system approaches across counties, this has led to a reduction in people falling through gaps between services and has delivered improved outcomes.
Turning Point supports people across the UK with substance misuse issues and we are currently recruiting for a Young Persons Recovery Worker. You will join our integrated service which delivers treatment across Somerset. Our specialist Young Persons Team delivers substance misuse treatment to service under 18s and young adults up to the age of 25 who want to make changes to their substance use.
As a Young Persons Recovery Worker we offer a starting salary of £23,000 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £27,000 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Main duties of the job
You will support a caseload of Young People and Young Adults; undertaking assessments, developing person centred recovery plans and running evidence based substance misuse interventions in groups and on a 1:2:1 basis. You will deliver interventions both face to face and via telephone and video technology where appropriate.
Multi-agency working with partner agencies including Youth Offending Teams, Schools, Police, Childrens Homes and Social Services is an essential part of this role. You will spend your time out and about, working within an outreach approach. This work includes going into Schools and colleges across the borough providing presentations to groups and seeing young people wherever the need is identified.

It's an extremely varied role, so flexibility and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital. Naturally, we also look for Engagement and Prevention workers with excellent communication skills and, ideally, a vocational qualification, such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent.
