As a newly qualified GP within 2 years of qualification, you will undertake a variety of duties within general practice governed by the GMS contract. The role will include:
- In person consultations
- Telephone consultations
- Visiting patients at home and in nursing homes
- Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
- Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required
- All aspects of clinical administration

Main duties of the job
The role is to perform as an
autonomous general practitioner working independently with other health care
professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients
attending within a primary care setting. Provide expert professional advice to
patients, carers and colleagues whilst maintaining clinical excellence. To be professionally accountable and
responsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC
code of conduct, ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is
primary.
The successful candidate will need to be capable of
independent travel across the network and work flexibly to meet the needs of
the business. This role is a fixed term
position for 4 months with a view to extend subject to National Direct Enhanced
Service contracting. We are offering a competitive salary (which does not
include MDU cover), offering 6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays pro rata
and 1 week study leave pro rata as per the BMA model contract. We recognise the diverse experience of our
primary care workforce and offer regular clinical team meetings within member
practices and support attendance at regional training events.

Primary Care Network are a high achieving, pro-active and ambitious PCN. The
successful applicant will work in an exciting new role across the PCNs
footprint as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. This role will support all four practices on a fortnightly
rota. There will be further scope to develop areas of personal interest as we
support CPD time across your working week with regular educational
opportunities within member practices. We feel this role would have a positive
impact on the network as our
aim is to provide exemplary patient care, whilst finding innovative solutions
in general practice to deliver the best care we can to our patients.
The successful candidate will be assigned a mentor from within the
network team, who will support them through the transition period of completion
of training into full independence within General Practice.
The team are supported by a PCN leadership structure and our PCN ARRS staff
currently include Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy technicians/Medicines
Co-Ordinators, Mental Health Nursing and Wellbeing Practitioner, Social Prescribing
Link Workers, First Contact Physiotherapists, Care Coordinators and Physicians
Associates.

In accordance with the practice rota, as agreed, the post-holder will be available
to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone
consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and
signing/authorising repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, administration,
and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to
presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care
workers within the organisation.
The
post-holder may conduct weekly rounds of the Care Home patients registered
within the practice PCNs. The post-holder will conduct evening surgeries
focused on the management of patients with long-term conditions, making
professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether
self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the
organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of
patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness in
consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management
protocols, developing care plans for health.
Providing counselling and health
education.
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring
to other care providers as appropriate.
Recording clear and contemporaneous
consultation notes to agreed standards.
Collecting data for audit purposes.
Expectation to complete a mandatory
induction.
Compiling and issuing
computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
Prescribing in accordance with the general practice /PCN prescribing
formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
The post-holder will be required to visit patients during surgery time in
an emergency if clinically indicated.
The post-holder may undertake enhanced access sessions as required across
the network.

Essential

- Experience of working in a GP training practice using EMIS
- Experience of working in urgent care and/or a primary care environment
- Experience of dealing with a range of clinical conditions
