We are looking for a Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join the team in our highly regarded service at Ty Aberdafen.
The BIRT centre for Wales is the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust's (BIRT) most environmentally friendly building to date and incorporates the latest technology and design features. The service incorporated recyclable materials, energy saving technology and energy efficient resources into the building process to meet the BREEM Excellent standard required.

Main duties of the job
The service provides specialist rehabilitation based upon a psychology model for people to gain their independence. The service users have a range of cognitive, physical and/or emotional symptoms following a severe brain injury. As a BIRT senior speech and language therapist, you will be part of an exciting and pioneering team with fantastic opportunities.
You will:
Work as autonomous speech and language therapist within your multidisciplinary team
Assess how a persons communication impacts on their day to day life and provide intervention as appropriate.
Work with the person and their social network to problem solve and overcome barriers.
Assess communication and provide a management plan and rehabilitation (as appropriate) seeking specialist assessments as required
Provide training to staff and our service users social network
Be integral to service and organisational development.

Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) is a nationally inspired recognised service
of The Disabilities Trust; a leading national charity for specialist support for people
with disabilities.
BIRT is a neuropsychologically led specialist assessment and rehabilitation service for people with
disabilities resulting from brain injury. This includes traumatic brain injury
(TBI), stroke and other forms of acquired brain injury (ABI).

physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, nurses and rehabilitation
