Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist / Consultant Clinical Psychologist working across two neighbouring units Daniel Yorath House Leeds (4 days) and Osman House Leeds (1 day) Subject to agreed contracted hours.

About The Role You would take a lead role in ensuring the planning and development of innovative clinical services, supporting, and advising clinicians and our interdisciplinary team. We are looking for a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist / Consultant Clinical Psychologist to join the team in our highly regarded service at Daniel Yorath House. Daniel Yorath House is a unit in Garforth - Leeds providing rehabilitation to people with acquired brain injury. You will also provide oversight at our neighbouring unit, Osman House in Leeds. This post is required to further develop our holistic neuro-behavioural services in line with changing clinical and commissioning needs at Daniel Yorath House. This post holder will develop leadership and clinical skills in working with governance and operational management to support development of our clinical MDT team. Significant clinical neuroscience/neuro-rehabilitation experience and expertise is required with good team and leadership skills.You would also join our Clinical Executive, an international team of clinicians, who are involved in research and new projects; they share their knowledge and provide support to fellow members, working together to ensure BIRT's services remain excellent and innovative.

Main duties of the job

The duties and responsibilities of this role include: (But not limited to)

  • Providing strategic professional leadership to the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust within the service, ensuring the planning and development of a systematic response to service need, interpreting professional policies and ensuring that the service operates at the highest level of quality and current best practice, with research and development a major responsibility and taking a major role in the development and implementation of policy for the service system as a whole.
  • Ensuring the development of high quality, innovative, and evidence based neuro-psychological rehabilitation practice within the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust.
  • Providing clinical services at a high level of expertise, supporting and advising colleagues on all issues concerned with neuro-psychological clinical practice and providing expert clinical consultation and professional guidance to clinical neuro-psychologists, clinical psychologists and other clinicians within BIRT.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical / Professional Practise

To provide at a high level of expertise specialist neuropsychological assessment of adults with neurological injury, utilising information from a broad range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methodologies and integrating it into a neuropsychological formulation of the service user based on a sound understanding of neuroanatomy, neuropsychology, neuropathology and brain behaviour relationships within the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust.

To formulate and implement plans for brain injury rehabilitation or management of service users brain injury problems based on a multifactorial neuropsychological understanding and current evidence-based best practice, taking the lead in very complex cases within the Service/ Region the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust.

To undertake at a high level of expertise a range of neuropsychological therapeutic interventions, drawing on a range of psychological models and employing a range of modalities (individual, family and group) adapted and tailored to the needs of the individual and the context and the ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of the intervention within the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust.

To be responsible for providing a specialist neuropsychological perspective in the interdisciplinary assessment of service users and their families within the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust and particularly for very complex cases with ABI.

To contribute expert highly specialist psychological advice to the multidisciplinary formulation of appropriate therapeutic approaches or rehabilitation plans, and to be involved in, or oversee specialist neuropsychological aspects of their implementation in collaboration with other staff.

To assess the suitability of service users for BIRT services and to undertake risk assessment and risk management for relevant service users and provide advice on the neuropsychological and behavioural aspects of risk to the multidisciplinary team.

To undertake neuropsychologically based risk assessment and risk management for relevant service users and provide advice on the neuropsychological aspects of risk to other professionals.

To consult with and provide specialist neuropsychological guidance to carers and families of service users within BIRT.

To oversee the Clinical Governance of the interdisciplinary team at the service

To be responsible for relevant data collection on work activities, as required, and to maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping. Leadership

To interpret the policies and guidelines concerning professional good practice for the provision of neuropsychological services in the area of brain injury in order to ensure the highest standards of service to the service user group.

To support the Service Manager in all aspects of managing the service. To function as a member of the Clinical Executive within BIRT. To provide clinical consultancy and practice guidance to the other clinicians working in the BIRT services.

To work in close liaison with both Director of Clinical Services and Director of Operations, who are both responsible for intellectual property rights in relation to BIRT services.

To liaise effectively with referrers and purchasers of Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust services.
