Job summary

Royal Star & Garter was founded in 1916 to care for the severely injured young men returning from the battlegrounds of the First World War. Today, our mission is to provide an outstanding range of quality care and therapies to veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia.

We provide loving care for veterans and their partners who live with disability or dementia in three state-of-the-art Homes, ensuring they are respected as individuals. We meet their needs in an appropriate, personalised and compassionate way and this is supported by highly skilled and motivated staff. We constantly evolve our services and innovate our care to meet present and future need and this now includes younger veterans, a day care service and plans for an outreach project.

We are looking for someone really special to provide administrative support to the Nursing and Care Team while managing the front of house reception service.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a seamless administrative service while ensuring that, at all times, residents and visitors are treated with respect and dignity and that individuals rights to privacy, independence and choice are met with kindness and compassion.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities

1.Providing a professional, welcoming, customer focused front of house service to all residents, visitors and staff, following the relevant policies and procedures to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

2.Managing internal and external queries, deliveries, correspondence and communications. Accurately recording relevant information, providing a response or passing the information to the appropriate person in a timely way.

3.Being the first point of contact for the nursing and/or dementia floors, answering telephone queries and signposting services as required.

4.Supporting the nursing team in management of the diaries, ensuring all paperwork in place for resident assessment and reviews.

5.Providing administrative support to the Care/Dementia Care Manager in implementing HR procedures e.g. absence management, and Learning and Development activities, ensuring compliance with CQC and GDPR regulations

6.Support payroll administration by collating and recording bank and additional hours on a monthly basis

7.Carrying out administrative tasks to support the safety and wellbeing of residents as directed including, but not limited to: updating resident information, maintaining the Duty of Care folder, arranging transport appointments and supporting the Home activities and outings programme.

8.Collating data for the Home Manager/Deputys as required for Quality Assurance and external auditors

12.Providing support in an emergency situation including dialling 999 if required and directing ambulance staff on arrival.

13.To understand and undertake the fire duties required of the role and follow the Homes procedures, managing visitors any visitors in the Reception area.

General

1.To undertake such other duties as may be required and which are consistent with the nature of this post as determined by (post title/your manager)

2.To comply with all Royal Star & Garter policies and procedures
