Job summary

Since I joined this fabulous charity I have been amazed and humbled by the passion and dedication of every member of staff. Our teams in our three Homes are nothing short of exceptional in the care they deliver, while our teams in Central Services provide unrivalled support.

I am looking for someone really special to join us as an Occupational Therapist 2 days pw. My ideal candidate will be someone confident in supporting our amazing veterans. It is a role that will suit an OT who is driven, motivated and has the ability to lead by example.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a person centred approach which enables and promotes independence and supports positive quality of life

To provide direct occupational therapy input to residents, working closely with the Physiotherapist

Job description

Job responsibilities

1.To provide comprehensive assessment of residents, using an individualised goal setting and holistic approach to demonstrate outcomes.

2.Train and empower the staff team to deliver occupational therapy interventions identified in the individualised care plan,

3.Enable and support residents to maximise their potential holistically through rehabilitation and enablement

4.Share knowledge, experience and best practice throughout the team, including raising awareness of good practice occupational therapy techniques

5.Oversee the management and servicing of identified therapy equipment.

6.To be proactive in risk assessing residents for personal hygiene needs and advising staff team accordingly

7.Participate in relevant audit processes, evaluation and implementing ongoing service change to order to meet residents needs

8.To liaise with the community team / services and hospital discharge team to support external services for our residents.

9.To participate in local OT forums / groups to keep up to date and share best practice.

10.Support regulatory compliance, in accordance with Royal Star & Garter policies, appropriate legislation and guidance stipulated by regulatory bodies.

11.To ensure within the scope of your role that you promote health and safety and comply with the requirements set out in the Homes Health & Safety Policy and comply with guidelines for moving and handling residents

12.To undertake such other duties as may be required and which are consistent with the nature of this post.
