This role is eligible for a Market Supplement.
You will work across the Kingston and Richmond boroughs.
The working hours for this role are 30 hours per week (Part-Time).
We support flexible working and offer hybrid working. For full-time roles, this typically includes 3 days a week in the office, with potential for home working based on service needs.
Please note the salary advertised is full-time equivalent and will be pro rata.
Main duties of the job
As a mental health clinician in the Emotional Health Service you will be passionate about improving the mental health of children and young people and putting them at the centre of all you do. In this role you will be part of a small team who are focused on supporting mental health in schools for our most vulnerable pupils. Part of the role will be dedicated to children who experience Emotionally Related School Avoidance (ERSA). You will co-deliver our innovative ERSA groups for parents and young people and provide consultation and advice to education colleagues. The remainder of your role will be to deliver buy-in services to schools. This will involve delivering bespoke packages of support to school communities involving the delivery of consultation, training, assessments, group and individual therapy and reflective space for staff.
You will be part of a team of clinicians providing access to peer supervision and many exciting development opportunities. You will also receive clinical supervision and line management within the service.

Emotionally Related School Avoidance - ERSA.This role will have a particular focus on adding capacity to the support for children and young people with emotionally related school avoidance (ERSA) and their families and schools. Locally we have been focusing on this current issue, particularly post pandemic, and this role will be central to providing both direct therapy work with children and their families, support to schools and partnership work.
ERSA work will be combined with some EHS Buy In work which is offering Emotional health support to schools who buy in our service. You will have access to peer supervision and many exciting development opportunities. You will also receive clinical supervision and line management within the service.

- Experience of working therapeutically with complex and vulnerable families, in the community.
- This therapeutic experience will be with individuals and groups presenting with a range of needs including suspected or diagnosed Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or ADHD.
- Knowledge and experience in delivering evidenced-based treatment for a range of mental health difficulties.
- Proven ability to undertake assessments of emotional well-being and risk assessments
- Experience of providing consultation and training to a wide range of professionals including school staff
- Ability to assess, formulate and implement plans for therapy with young people and families in line with an evidence-based approach to clinical intervention, across the full range of care settings
- Ability to provide high quality consultation to identified professionals
- Ability to manage high levels of emotional distress and think clearly in emotionally charged situations
- Proven ability to effectively use data, intelligence and evidence to create meaningful insight and to inform own decision making.
- Experience of keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy) and producing accurate reports, presentations, and written updates to a range of stakeholders (which may include families, children or young people).
- Knowledge of statutory legislation (for example Childrens Act, SEND Code of Practice) and national policy drivers that will affect childrens services and your role.
