Job summary

The Childrens Community Nursing Team, based at The Moor Lane Centre, Chessington, delivers specialist nursing care to children and young people with SEND in Dysart and Bedelsford special schools, at home and within community services. The nursing team forms part of the Integrated Service for Children with Disabilities (ISCD), working across health, education and social care.

Main duties of the job

We have the exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, proactive nurse to work flexibly across the community and in our special schools delivering holistic, family centered care for children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities. This is a dynamic role encompassing:

  • Assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of clinical nursing care.
  • Delivery of specialist nursing care, including but not limited to: administration of medication, suctioning, tracheostomy care, gastrostomy management and enteral feeding, seizure management.
  • Attendance at multi- professional meetings, including child protection case conferences.
  • Nursing sleep service- supporting children with sleep difficulties, reviewing sleep medication and strategies.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior staff and student nurses.

Qualifications

  • Registered Childrens Nurse (RN Child/RSCN). RGN will be considered with relevant experience.

Desirable

  • Teaching and assessing qualification,
  • Evidence of continuous professional development,
  • Community qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years post qualification experience in nursing
  • Experience working with children and young people with disabilities / complex health needs
