Job summary

Second Step is the lead agency in a partnership of organisations, chosen by Bristol City Council to deliver the MHCLG Changing Futures programme one of 15 areas nationally. This ambitious programme will support people facing multiple disadvantage, including discrimination, homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health, drug and alcohol and interactions with the criminal justice system. The programmes aims are: To improve the way that local systems and services work for people experiencing multiple disadvantage who are traditionally not well served by services To use the learning to influence future government programmes and policy

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the job is to provide high quality comprehensive administrative, secretarial and project support to the Changing Futures Team and Senior Managers. To work pro-actively to support activities of the Changing Futures Team including taking initiative with identified projects.

Being the first point of contact, in person and on the phone, for internal and external queries. Directing queries to the relevant person and supporting with follow up actions. Welcoming visitors to the Changing Futures office, which includes people currently experiencing, or with past experience of, multiple disadvantage. Supporting the planning of internal and external events, such as Board Meetings and Team Away Days.

Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 2 years experience of administration, business or operational support
  • Proven experience of organising or supporting the organisation of meetings and events
  • Ability to engage with others to develop effective relationships
  • Experience of project work
  • Experience of the drafting, editing and production of reports and presentations
  • Developing and implementing new procedures

Desirable

  • Lived experience of multiple disadvantage, either as a service user or carerExperience of working in the voluntary sector
  • Receiving and handling complaints
