Job summary

Aspire is a city-wide service offering support to people, including those who are at risk of experiencing voices, visions, extreme suspiciousness, and other severe mental health difficulties to a degree that would meet the criteria for psychosis. The ARMS pathway supports people aged 14-35 for up to two years.

The Band 4 Trainee ARMS Practitioner role is a 12 month training programme in which you will be provided with skills and learning opportunities to develop and demonstrate competency to undertake a Band 5 ARMS Practitioner role. You will be provided with a structured learning and development programme of support to develop skills and competencies in working therapeutically with and coordinating the care of clients who are at risk of experiencing psychosis. You will be taught and supported to carry out a range of interventions and duties under the direction of your supervisor and the wider team. Ultimately you will learn all aspects of the ARMS Practitioner role, and there will potentially be opportunities to work with at-risk communities to prevent the escalation of difficulties with people in their communities.

Be part of a team providing specialist mental health support for clients aged between 14 and 35 years old

Provide support and care with clients and their families/networks to help identify, develop and improve their mental and related physical wellbeing.

Work collaboratively with other services to provide joined up care

Become skilled in assessment to determine peoples suitability for the ARMS pathway

Develop skills in caseload management

Understand risk management and subsequent risk management interventions and safety planning

Be competent in planning effective care

Provide mental health interventions and social recovery-orientated activities

Proactively engage communities in enabling the early identification of people who may be at risk of experiencing psychosis (extreme states of distress).
