London Central & West UCC have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Finance to join our organisation and lead the finance team to deliver success. This is a new role, giving you the scope to develop the role into something unique.

Reporting into the Finance Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial function.

Main duties of the job

You will work to ensure the financial success of the organisation, providing sound judgement and advice on financial matters. You will be expected to manage and lead the finance team, overseeing all aspects of financial management, including payroll, banking, financial ledgers and internal reporting.

This role will also see you deputise for the Finance Director, giving you the opportunity to develop your skillset further and oversee implementation of new contracts and services. You will lead on financial planning, annual budgets and maintaining supplier purchase ledgers.

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Line management of the finance team
  • Deputise for the Director of Finance
  • Make key business decisions as a senior manager
  • Ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation

Financial Planning:

  • Lead the finance planning and annual budget setting process
  • Perform monthly variance analysis of budgets and engage with budget holders
  • Ensuring that tight financial control is applied to the management of working capital
  • Assess financial trends and contribute to the development of growth strategies

Operational and Payroll oversight:

  • Manage the day-to-day functions of the Finance, Accounting and Payroll teams
  • Oversee doctors and staff payroll, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Provide advise on pension related queries

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards. SFIs and regulatory licences
  • Act as key support during internal and external audits

  • CCAB qualified

Experience

  • Experienced Accountant with over 5 years of Post qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in financial leadership.
  • Experience in risk management and compliance with financial regulations.

Desirable

  • Experience of running multiple monthly payrolls.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of financial and management accounting processes.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS Funding particularly within Primary Care.
  • SAGE knowledge.

Skills

Essential

  • Effective leadership and team management skills.
  • Familiarity with forecasting models and financial software.
