Job summary
We are looking for a
committed and motivated individual to support sexual health education and
prevention as part of the Integrated Sexual health Service (ISHS) in
Hertfordshire. You will lead on the delivery of sexual health outreach and
community engagement and be able to work in partnership with an array of linked
sexual health services, to engage service users and professionals in sexual
health support, education, and training. You will work with service users in
groups, as well as in a 1:1 capacity. You will work closely with the wider
METRO team in Hertfordshire, including collaborating with the Sexual Health Get
It Lead. You will adopt a leadership role, line managing two Sexual Health Outreach
and Engagement Workers, with a key focus on upskilling your team around sexual
health interventions, safeguarding and child protection, and sexual health
training.
Main duties of the job
- Line manage two Sexual Health Outreach and Engagement Workers
- Lead on delivering outreach for different populations on sexual health
- Deliver sexual and reproductive health information to groups of varying sizes and in workshop settings
- Offer 1:1 sexual health interventions to those identified as in need
- Act as a primary liaison between METRO and primary care services

Programme
METRO is working in partnership with Central London Community Healthcare Trust (CLCH), to deliver our ISHS in Hertfordshire. On this new five-year contract, the METRO team will be fully integrated and co-located within CLCHs services in Hertfordshire, delivering outreach activities in the local community tailored to local needs. The service aims to reach those who are most vulnerable or at risk, and involves collaboration with local outreach organisations targeting LGBTQ+ people, speakers of other languages, young people, and those living in more deprived areas.
Main tasks
- Plan and manage the delivery of outreach in Hertfordshire to include the most vulnerable or at risk, collaborating with local outreach organisations, targeting LGBTQ+ people, speakers of other languages, young people, and those living in more deprived areas
- Design a programme of outreach which encourages young people to screen for chlamydia and gonorrhea, and to register for our condom scheme in a variety of venues and scenarios
- Deliver accurate and relevant sexual and reproductive health information to large and small groups of service users, 1:1 in brief interventions as well as to groups of various sizes in presentations and workshops
- Support the development of relationships with local partner organisations and source new venues where outreach and service promotion can be conducted
- Understand the full suite of Integrated Sexual health Service (ISHS) services, signposting and making referrals or professional connects when appropriate
- Work closely with the Central London Community Healthcare Trust (CLCH) team to deliver an interlinked suite of services that support the holistic wellbeing of service users living in Hertfordshire, attending regular management meetings and contributing to quarterly and annual planning sessions
- Line manage and provide regular supervision and career and personal development activities with two Sexual Health Outreach and Engagement Workers, providing or sourcing training as needed
- Offer sexual health drop-in support services to build relationships with service users to support their holistic health and wellbeing
- Offer 1:1 sexual health interventions, to individuals who are identified as in need, or who are referred to you through other organisations
- Understand safeguarding and child sexual exploitation (CSE) risks and be able to implement safeguarding procedures, including making safeguarding reports to the local authority and following Fraser Guidelines
- Lead on collecting and amalgamating quarterly reporting
- Actively seek participation and engagement of service users, record accurately and present recommendations for service design
- Ensure confidentiality of data, particularly when dispatching data to external agencies, and have an awareness / understanding of data protection issues, in line with METROs Information Governance Policies and procedures
- Maintain and update knowledge, skills and undertake continuing education in accordance with personal and service needs within a framework of a personal development plan
