MAIN DUTIES
To provide an evidenced based service for children and young people as part of early identification
and intervention for children and young people with emotional and mental health needs
To provide advice, support and knowledge of appropriate resources for the emotional wellbeing
of children and their families
To take responsibility for liaising with Practice Leads within the team and other Practitioners, to
support effective clinical governance, risk and safety protocols and best practice principles to
support continuous improvement and young person-centred car
Liaise with a number of primary and secondary schools, providing consultation and planning
interventions through regular Support and Advice Meetings with School Mental Health Leads and
other relevant pastoral staff
To support development and delivery of psychoeducational workshops, webinars and groups for
young people, parents/carers and school staff
To work across agencies to develop a co-ordinated response to children and young peoples
mental health needs
Encourage user-involvement and co-production in furthering best practices and striving for quality
assurance in data returns for qualitative and quantitative service evaluations to inform and
improve further service development
To work alongside others to demonstrate knowledge and skills to plan and critically evaluate the
implementation of the early intervention role to meet the mental health needs of children and
young people
SWP TRAINEE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a training role within the CYP-MH programme. The SWP training is for qualified CWPs and
EMHPs who have undertaken the respective Graduate or Postgraduate Certificate/ Diploma. The
programme aims to extend the clinical skillset of CWPs and EMHPs by providing specialist training in a
broader range of presentations as well as supervisor training for low-intensity interventions. SWPs will
be responsible for:
Fulfilling the course requirement (see course brochure)
Working within the governance frameworks of the organisation, including, but not limited to:
Clinical Governance, Confidentiality, Data Protection, Health and Safety, and use of IT
Informing their supervisor/line manager and university of any university absence
Being present in their site on non-university days and use site leave allowances as agreed with
their site
PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITIES
To deliver specialist evidence based therapeutic interventions with a caseload of children and
families, to maintain their professional qualification, keeping abreast of current training and
practice in such areas
To provide support and guidance to others, particularly schools with the aim of improving skills,
knowledge and facilitating reflective practice
Undertake assessments with young people and parents which identify areas where the young
person/ parent wishes to see change and/or recovery
To identify, monitor and manage risk to self or others in every contact with a client
Manage own workload through both practice and managerial supervision
To work collaboratively with other teams within Bromley Y to ensure children, young people and
families needs remain at the core of our work, in line with the THRIVE model
To contribute to the evaluation of all areas of service delivery, client and professional satisfaction
and the impact of interventions
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
To ensure knowledge and skills are continuously developed and maintained at a high level of
competence
Applying and encouraging strengths based practices in self and others
To identify training needs through supervision and personal development plans
To design and deliver training services/workshops and to take part in their evaluation
SUPERVISION
To engage in best practice principles for professional supervision, particularly in year two of SWP
studies
To fully utilise the purpose and function of supervision to maximise personal and professional
growth and learning in becoming a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner, including group supervision and
peer supervision
Model developing good practice in following due care and process in organisational clinical
procedures and protocols
Strive to be a good role model for positive working relationships and modelling professional
behaviours that align with the values and principles of the organisation and professional body
Be committed to high standards of safety and efficacy in delivery of clinical practice, that is in the
best interests of children, young people and families
Demonstrate a commitment to the ethical, professional and best practice codes of conduct of
professional registration body
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
To work with others to develop practice protocols and audit tools, to collect the relevant
statistical information to underpin service evaluation and record keeping
To ensure all interventions are evidence based
To implement national audit tools and review with colleagues nationally and locally
To be key in obtaining service user views and feedback on support provided to ensure the delivery
of accessible provision
To comply with relevant professional codes of conduct
To contribute to establishing essential networks, knowledge base of resources and maintain links
with relevant community organisations
To contributing to identifying service needs and gaps across with regard to childrens mental
health and wellbeing
Develop skills in service evaluation and audit to ensure the overall development of the service
To maintain awareness of up-to-date research and development pertaining to advances in child
and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health issues
GENERAL
Keep accurate and appropriate records, providing information for monitoring and evaluation
as required
Participate in, and actively contribute to, individual supervision, training and team meetings as
required
Work in accordance with Bromley Ys objectives and values
Comply with all organisational policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and in
particular to ensure safe, fair and responsible working practices
Undertake duties to ensure the health and safety of post-holder, colleagues, service users,
volunteers and visitors
Work flexibly, being prepared to perform other duties commensurate with the role
Actively support and promote any fundraising activities as part of the day-to-day duties
Promote the work of Bromley Y People and encourage positive understanding, awareness and
attitudes towards emotional wellbeing and mental health
Work at all times to promote equality, diversity and individual rights
Work alongside and ensure active service user participation in all aspects of work, including
monitoring of activities
To participate in the development of local safeguarding child protection, joint agency
procedures and other relevant local procedure
Application Process
This is a dual application process. In addition to applying for this position with us, you must also complete
a KCL application for the Course Team to review. The Course Team will liaise with us on whether you meet
the academic requirements for the course during the recruitment process. You will only be offered a KCL
training place if you are successful in securing this post and you meet the university training requirements
(such as academic background, relevant experience, visa approval).
University applications close on Monday 25 November 2024 at 23.59 pm. However, it is strongly advised
to submit an early application to prevent the delay of a decision. Applications take approximately 4-6
weeks to assess. Teaching will begin on Monday 27 January 2025. Trainees need to be in place with
Bromley Y at least one week before the course start date.

Anyone starting an NHSE-funded course is required to wait two years
after their graduation exam board before starting another NHSE funded course. This policy means that
recent CWP and EMHP graduates are not eligible for Recruit to Train.
For SWP, this rule has been waived and the SWP training is open to EMHPs and CWPs with a minimum
of one-year post-qualification experience.
