Helena hospice have an exciting opportunity for a Counsellor to join their team
Your work pattern will be Weds/Thurs/Fri 9am to 5pm
Main duties of the job
Provide counselling support to patients, families, carers & friends, both pre and post death, at level 3 of the NICE guidance for psychological support
Provide support to those living with a progressive or life-limiting illness.
Work jointly within the Multidisciplinary team to provide emotional support to patients, relatives, and carers of all ages. This may be in various settings, i.e. community, impatient unit etc.
To manage a caseload of clients
To work with external health, social care services, other professional and voluntary organisations where required
To identify risk to vulnerable people, following safeguarding policies and procedures
St

- Diploma in counselling plus significant post qualification experience working with all ages of children and adults.
- Having achieved or working towards B.A.C.P. or other professional body accreditation
- Ability to communicate information and risk to other health professionals, team members, families and carers.
- Ability to work empathically, interpret and work sensitively with a range of complex and painful issues.
- Ability to work with a potentially hostile client, families and carers.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written at all levels
