An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a highly motivated, responsible and caring individual to join our dynamic team at the Neuro Therapy Centre.
We now have a vacancy for a Therapy Assistant to join our team working alongside qualified Physiotherapists, Counsellors, and Gym Instructors as part of the multidisciplinary team working with patients who have complex neurological conditions and rehabilitation needs delivering high quality treatments in a group and 1-1 setting.
Main duties of the job
As a Therapy Assistant you will also play a crucial role in the smooth running of the therapy department which will include working under direction to deliver exercise based interventions, along with some housekeeping and administration duties.
You will have good communication and interpersonal skills along with preferably a previous experience of working within a health care/fitness setting.
You will receive a comprehensive training programme and regular support, supervision and appraisals.
Successful applicants will require a DBS check.

Job responsibilities
Job Objectives
To assist the Physiotherapists/Gym instructor and other health care professionals with delivery of care to members within the Therapies Department.
To be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and work in accordance to NTC policies.
Take delegated responsibility for own caseload of members and work to agreed protocols.
Responsible to the Lead Physiotherapist
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Clinical:
To assist the Physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals providing knowledgeable support in the treatment of members with a range of delegated exercises or treatments. These may be undertaken in any appropriate setting either within the NTC, Community or Domiciliary setting.
Maintain a high standard of record keeping in line with CSP.
Undertake Moving and Handling techniques with members both single handed and as part of a team.
To independently organise and run the delegated classes as required either on site, or virtually, and incorporate use of therapy equipment as appropriate.
To participate as an active member of the multidisciplinary team, communicating relevant information to the Lead Physio and other members of the team when and where appropriate.
Liaise with other members of the MDT to understand any limitations to exercise for people with conditions unfamiliar to you.
Liaise with physio staff over use of appropriate aids for members where there is a recognised need.
Support NTC members through telephone welfare calls and contribute to the listening service
Assist in the gym as and when needed.
Adopt flexible working hours in conjunction with other team members during therapy staff absence and on annual leave.
Complete and submit on a weekly basis accurate activity data as per requirement.
To assist the support workers when needed in carrying out Personal care.
To accompany and assist therapists on home visits as required.
Comply with all infection control & Covid protocols and guidelines and abide by infection control training.
Professional:
Provide nonclinical support to physiotherapy students, work experience students and volunteers.
Participate in self-development and training, this will include attendance at appropriate in- house training.
To comply with NTC Policies & procedures including risk management. National and local Infection Control, and Covid-19 infection prevention policies and procedures, in accordance with the Health Act (2006)
Monitor and develop own performance to maintain a high standard as well as maintaining an up-to-date portfolio.
The post holder will be subject to Staff Performance Appraisals. Specific parts of the job description will form the basis of objective setting, monitoring and review. Outcomes will reflect the needs of the service and the career development requirements and aspirations of the post holder.
To be aware of Health and Safety aspects of work and implement any policies which may be required to improve the safety of the work area, including prompt recording and reporting of accidents/adverse incidents to senior staff and ensuring that equipment is safe.
SAFEGUARDING ADULTS - Everyone employed by the NTC regardless of the work they do has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable adults. When members and/or their carers use our services, it is essential that all protection concerns are both recognised and acted on appropriately. You have a responsibility to ensure you are familiar with and follow NTC policies in relation to safeguarding vulnerable adults and complete mandatory or additional training as necessary. You have a responsibility to support appropriate investigations either internally or externally.
Organisational:
Undertake administrative tasks and perform basic housekeeping duties daily in relevant treatment areas.
Manage and prioritise clinical caseload and non-clinical duties as delegated by supervising therapists. Ensure unfinished or incomplete work is brought to the attention of the supervising therapists for reallocation and to seek advice when necessary.
Make suggestions where it is evident that appropriate changes may improve efficiency.
Ensure all the equipment used in the therapy department is clean and in good working order, maintaining high levels of cleanliness all times and report any faults noticed.
Undertake other clerical duties as requested keeping the Northwood software up to date.
To provide administrative support to the team you are working in i.e, Photocopying, filing and collecting and collating statistics as requested
Aim to contribute to the Fundraising ethos of the centre.
