Were excited to be opening a brand-new Children and Young Peoples Safe Haven in Newcastle and Gateshead City Centres in January 2026, a warm, welcoming space where young people can get immediate support during times of mental health distress. This innovative service is a partnership between Everyturn Mental Health-Streetwise, and Children North East, and were looking for a passionate and motivated Team Lead to help lead and develop this project.

Main duties of the job

About the role

As Team Lead, you will drive the day-to-day delivery of the Safe Haven, ensuring young people receive safe, high-quality, and compassionate support. Youll provide hands-on leadership, manage the staff team, oversee service performance, and work closely with partners across Everyturn Streetwise and CNE, to ensure the service runs smoothly.

This is a brilliant opportunity to shape a brand-new service, influence local pathways, and create a supportive environment that genuinely changes outcomes for young people and families.

This role is not eligible for sponsorship as is does not meet the requirements as set out by the UK Visa and Immigration Service

Essential:

  • A relevant professional qualification (Counselling, Social Work, Youth Work, PGCE, etc.)
  • Experience supporting young peoples mental health through 1:1, group or crisis support.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and support staff.
  • Strong risk assessment and safeguarding knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable:

  • Management experience or a management qualification.
  • Experience delivering training to professionals.
