Job summary
Were excited to be opening a brand-new Children and Young Peoples Safe Haven in Newcastle and Gateshead City Centres in February 2026, a warm, welcoming space where young people can get immediate support during times of mental health distress. This innovative service is a partnership between Everyturn Mental Health-Streetwise, and Children North East, and were looking for a passionate Senior Mental Health Support Worker to help co-ordinate and delivery this services.
Your employer will be Everyturn Mental Health (working in partnership with Streetwise & Children North East).
This is a part-time job (up to 22.5 hours per week, mostly weekend and evening work). Enhancements paid for evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This is a fixed term role for 18 months, with provision for 24 months.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Mental Health Support Worker, youll provide safe, welcoming, and effective support to young people both in-person and online. Youll work closely with the Team Lead to coordinate projects, provide peer support to the delivery team, and ensure high-quality outcomes for the young people who access the service.

- Support young people accessing the CYP Safe Haven in line with
service specifications and operating procedures.
- Provide a safe, welcoming environment in person and online, using
de-escalation, active listening, and calm communication.
- Work 1:1 with young people to develop skills, confidence, and
knowledge to manage their mental health, liaising with external
services as needed.
- Co-produce safety plans with young people and provide guidance
or signposting on mental health, relationships, identity, emotional
regulation, self-harm, and other relevant issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of referral pathways and engage
with relevant stakeholders including parents and carers.
- Support the Team Lead with project coordination, including rotas,
peer supervision, and reporting.
- Provide guidance and support to the delivery team in day-to-day
service delivery.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records in line with organisational
policies.
- Engage young people and families to gather feedback and explore
experiences of the service.
- Support active participation to ensure young peoples views
influence service provision and development.
