As Digital & Technology Director, youll lead the continued development and delivery of our digital capabilities-supporting our strategic goals, enhancing operational performance, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the postholder will lead our digital and technology function, acting as the organisations Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) and providing expert leadership across cyber security, data governance, AI adoption and digital innovation. Reporting to the Executive Director of People, Digital & Transformation, and working closely with the Director of Transformation and Director of People, you will ensure that people, processes and technology are aligned to support our mission so that no one struggles alone.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

Strategic leadership and digital transformation:

  • Provide visible and values-led leadership to the Digital and Technology team, setting a clear vision and building a high-performing, motivated and accountable function that delivers exceptional service across Everyturn.
  • Recruit, develop and retain a digitally skilled team, creating a culture of ownership, innovation and excellence, where colleagues are empowered to lead, learn and grow.
  • Lead the further development of Everyturns digital strategy, ensuring it continues to evolve in line with organisational priorities, service user needs, and external opportunities.
  • Manage an annual budget of approximately £1.8m to support delivery of the digital strategy and ensure effective use of resources.

AI, data and digital innovation:

  • Lead the safe and effective adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies across Everyturn, ensuring their use is ethical, clinically appropriate and aligned with NHS guidance and national policy.
  • Champion responsible AI by embedding standards that promote transparency, fairness and digital inclusion, particularly in relation to reducing health inequalities.
  • Use AI and advanced analytics to generate meaningful insight, support early intervention, and enhance outcomes for people accessing Everyturns services.
  • Horizon-scan for emerging digital and AI trends within and beyond the health and care sector to inform innovation and service design.

  • Experience of working at a senior level within a relevant Digital/Technology role and reporting to Executive Teams and Boards.
  • Successful track record in a senior role in a comparatively complex environment.
  • Extensive experience of leading an IT function through change.
  • Extensive experience track of successfully leading, developing and implementing IT strategies and enterprise-wide architecture, with experience at scale in a multi-channel business.
  • Substantial experience building large-scale digital, agile, capability, with the ability to define and deliver cultural change, provided by great, highly skilled people.
  • Substantial experience of delivering high quality IT services through strategic contract management and getting excellent benefit and continuous improvement from outsourced contracts.
  • Extensive experience of operating credibly in a complex stakeholder environment, with the confidence and assured communications skills to be able to engage and influence senior leaders.

  • Oversee the availability, security and performance of core IT systems, ensuring they meet user needs and are accessible to all.
