Job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Coalway Lane service in Gateshead as a Clinical Lead.
You will be responsible for assisting the Service Manager in organising and developing service provision, including staffing, budget allocation and expenditure, resources, support networks and public relations within and relating to the service. You will also provide support to the Service Manager in providing leadership to the staff team and organising care and services.
About Coalway Lane
Coalway Lane is a 20 bed, purpose-built, 24-hour specialist Mental Health Rehabilitation and Recovery service in Swalwell, Gateshead. Our main purpose is to support people with complex mental health problems to live well and independently in the community. Coalway Lane work with people to understand and manage their mental health condition, as well as to develop and practice the skills which are important to live a satisfying life.
Our team of mental health nurses and support workers are passionate about what they do and we specifically select our staff not just for their skills, but for their personal qualities such as warmth, optimism, and a natural desire to help others.
Successful candidates will be joining a team of up to 10 Mental Health Staff Nurses and 10 Support Workers, led by a Service Manager and 2 x Clinical Team Leads.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting time to join the team with the recent re-provision of 4 of our beds to accommodate short stays for people in mental health crisis. The aim is to work in partnership with the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment team, offering support to avoid a hospital admission.
We work in the least restrictive way and collaborate closely with the individual and other professionals to offer just enough support, so that people can take the risks they need to in order to reach their potential, flourish in life and transition into a community setting.
About the role
- Manage the needs of service users and their carers to ensure delivery (inclusive of all required patient records) meets all relevant quality standards and is person centred, outcomes focussed and protective of individual service users dignity are at the core of the way Everyturn delivers services.
- Manage a team of up to 10 staff ensure the effective and efficient deployment of resources to achieve agreed outcomes and targets.
- Monitor spending on agreed budget and achieve efficiencies where necessary to support financial sustainability in your area.
- Identify and escalate any risk as appropriate to mitigate and reduce risks.
- Coach and Mentor student nurses and newly qualified nurses to support with individual development.
- Provide administration and dispensing of medication under the direction of medical and nursing professionals and/or manufacturers guidelines to support clients/patient needs.

- NMC First Level Registered Nurse
- Significant experience of working with people with complex mental health needs
- Significant post registration experience
- Demonstrable experience of meeting agreed performance targets in a service demonstrating clinical outcomes
- Demonstrable experience of working with people who have experienced mental health problems
- Demonstrable experience in robust risk management processes
