Job summary

We're looking for a passionate and strategic Head of Fundraising and Marketing to join our record-breaking and award-winning team, leading our voluntary income and marketing functions. This is a unique opportunity to combine creativity, leadership, and purpose, helping secure the future of hospice care across Essex.

About the Role

As Head of Fundraising and Marketing, you'll take the lead on delivering ambitious and integrated fundraising and marketing strategies. You'll work collaboratively across the charity to grow income, raise awareness of our work, and strengthen engagement with our supporters, patients, families, colleagues and volunteers.

You'll inspire and lead high-performing teams, ensuring our fundraising is ethical, sustainable, and diverse, while also developing engaging marketing campaigns that reflect the compassionate care we provide.

Main duties of the job

  • Co-create the development and implementation of strategic plans for fundraising and marketing.
  • Managing diverse income streams including individual giving, corporate partnerships, events, legacies, and more.
  • Overseeing brand, communications and digital engagement, ensuring our message is clear, compelling, and consistent.
  • Building strong relationships with donors, media, stakeholders and community partners.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to support long-term growth and innovation.
  • Ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations, data protection and financial reporting standards.
  • Supporting and developing a talented and motivated team to deliver outstanding results.

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  1. Co-create and lead the delivery of fundraising and marketing strategies, budgets, and operational plans aligned with the charitys organisational strategy, Vision, Mission, and Values.
  2. Actively contribute to organisational strategic planning, providing expert insight into brand positioning, income generation, and stakeholder engagement.

Fundraising Leadership

  1. Lead the development of diverse and sustainable voluntary income streams, including individual and digital giving, corporate partnerships, community fundraising, legacy giving, events, and grant income.
  2. Work closely with Deputy Heads of Fundraising to prioritise and delegate tasks effectively, ensuring the team delivers on objectives, budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  3. Cultivate and oversee key donor relationships and strategic partnerships, ensuring donor retention and growth through excellent stewardship and engagement.
  4. Ensure that all fundraising activities comply with relevant legal, ethical, financial, and regulatory frameworks.
  5. Lead on financial performance monitoring and reporting, working closely with Data Insights and Finance Teams, analysing data to identify trends, risks, and audience segmentation opportunities that inform strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  6. Promote a strong culture of innovation to diversify income sources and maintain donor relevance.

Marketing and Engagement Leadership

  1. Lead the development and execution of a marketing and engagement strategy to enhance brand visibility, reputation, and support for Havens Hospices.
  2. Act as Brand Guardian to ensure consistency and integrity across all communication channels.
  3. Oversee the charitys digital presence, including its website and social media platforms, to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and content optimisation.
  4. Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of internal and external marketing and engagement campaigns.
  5. Provide input and insights to the Director of Fundraising and Marketing on matters of communications, branding, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.
  6. Represent the charity as a spokesperson with media and external stakeholders when require.

Leadership and Team Development

  1. Lead, manage, and develop the Fundraising and Marketing Teams to achieve a high-performance, collaborative and motivated environment.
  2. Provide effective line management to direct line reports, ensuring clarity of roles, development opportunities, and delivery against objectives.
  3. Foster cross-functional working and shared learning across all teams in Havens Hospices
  4. Champion a positive understanding of Fundraising, Marketing, and the charitys work across the entire organisation.
