Job summary

Derbyshire Minds Craft and Coffee Club is a friendly, creative space where people can connect, craft, and take positive steps for the mental wellbeing.

Working alongside our creative facilitator, you'll support arts and crafts sessions for groups of up to 12 participants. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives through kindness, creativity, and connection.

Main duties of the job

  • Volunteers main purpose is to support attendees in feeling welcome within the group and to provide a safe space for attendees to talk about their feelings and experiences with fellow humans.
  • Being an approachable, reassuring presence throughout the session
  • Helping to create a warm, friendly and non-judgmental group for all attendees.
  • Creating opportunity and holding space for people to discuss what they are going through and potentially be emotional
  • supporting group attendees by being a good listener without attempting to 'fix' or advise.
  • Being a positive ambassador for Derbyshire Mind.

Job responsibilities

  • Supporting the facilitator by checking in with them at the beginning and end to assist in running the session as necessary
  • Welcoming participants, making them a drink and helping them to feel comfortable and included
  • Supporting the setting up of the space before sessions and tidying away afterwards
  • Recording attendance on the register
  • Providing a friendly listening ear to participants, accompanying them to the adjoining break out room quiet space if necessary
  • Encouraging and supporting participants to complete simple feedback forms
  • Being an approachable, reassuring presence throughout the session
  • Handling peoples information and feelings with care, discussing any concerns confidentially with a member of staff.
