Derbyshire Minds new Crisis Support Drop-In service in Swadlincote!
Derbyshire
Minds Crisis Support Drop-In services are friendly and supportive non-clinical
crisis services for adults who self-define as needing immediate help with their
mental health or emotional wellbeing. Located in Buxton, Ripley and
Swadlincote, the services offer out-of-hours mental health help, support and
signposting in a relaxed and comfortable community environment. The services
will be open on Friday evenings, Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons, all
year round.
Main duties of the job
We have an
exciting opportunity for FOUR enthusiastic and resilient mental health support
workers to join our friendly supportive team and to help deliver this vital
service to local people. This will include providing support to people who may
be experiencing, or may otherwise experience, a mental health crisis. This
includes offering a listening ear along with structured support to develop a
wellbeing plan and signposting advice.

About us
Role:
Support Worker: Swadlincote Crisis Support Drop-In service
Hours: Part time: 51.5 hours over 6-week
rota. Week on-Week off
Salary: £22,000 per year pro rata. Actual
salary for these part-time hours equates to
£5,052 per
year.
Contract: Fixed term contract until end of May
2025, with potential for ongoing contract extensions.
Location: Swadlincote Town Centre
Job Purpose: The Support Worker role is to be a key
member of the team delivering the Swadlincote Crisis Support Drop-In service on
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, alongside Peer Support Volunteers. Support
Workers are responsible for providing on-to-one and group support to attendees
in an empathetic, non-judgemental, person-centred manner. Support Workers will
also share the role of Shift Leader each week.
Working
Pattern: Worked over
Friday evenings, Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons, on a week on-week
off basis. (See example rotas included at the end of the Job Description
and Person Spec document for more detail on weekly hours) Flexible working
required according to the service needs and the need to cover any gaps in the
rota. Service runs year-round so the rota will include public holiday working.

listening without judgement, and assessing, monitoring and supporting
individuals on a one-to-one basis and via appropriate group work.
The Support
Worker role will also require the post holder to alternate the role of
designated Shift Leader for that days on-shift team. In addition to normal
shift responsibilities, this will include, for example, allocating
responsibilities to the team over the course of the shift, liaising with
on-call teams as necessary, ensuring admin is completed, and leading a team
wellbeing check-in at the end of each working shift. (Please see the Job

based in Swadlincote town centre where the Crisis Support Drop-In service is
delivered. Some travel around Swadlincote and Derbyshire may be required as
part of training/delivering this role. A driving license and access to a car is
necessary as the service operates at night times when public transport doesnt
run.
