Farleigh Hospice is a charity that provides support to people affected by life limiting illnesses across mid Essex.
The Family Support Counselling Team provide 1-to-1 and couple counselling for patients and their carers/family members.
We have paid Sessional Counsellor opportunities for qualified counsellors to work with patients and families facing a life threatening or terminal illness. The work may be virtual or face-face at Farleigh Hospice or clients homes.
Main duties of the job
You will be working as part of the Family Support Service, providing time-limited counselling (6 or 12 sessions) to adults who have been referred to Farleigh Hospice. Experience of working with illness and/or bereavement is advantageous but not essential.
You will be:
- A qualified counsellor who has completed a BACP or other suitable accredited course, to at least diploma level
- A registered member of BACP or equivalent organisation and working within the professional ethical framework
You will have:
- Significant post-qualification experience
- Greater than 1 year of personal therapy
- Experience of working with clients who have suffered loss and/or health issues
- Professional indemnity and own liability insurance

- Maintain records and statistics in accordance with Farleigh Hospice requirements and GDPR
- Attend own supervision to BACP or equivalent organisation minimum requirement or above
- To attend supervision with Family Support Counsellor at pre-agreed regular intervals
- Participate in the work of the Family Support team, ensuring confidential, effective and consistent professional practice
