Invicta Health have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join the team.
This role involves working across all three of our Marsh practices; Martello Health Centre, Church Lane Surgery and Orchard House Surgery.
Interviews will be held on Thursday 28th September 2023
Main duties of the job
The Practice Nurse will be responsible for undertaking a range of nursing assessments and providing appropriate care/treatment in conjunction with GPs and the nursing team, independently as appropriate for the need, according to practice policy, protocols etc.

Clinical:
Assist and perform routine tasks as follows (this list is not exhaustive)
- Venepuncture
- Routine Vaccination
- Ear Syringing
- ECG
- BP Checks
- Urinalysis
- New patient screening
- Dressings
- Minor injuries
- Removal of sutures/clips
- First registration/health surveillance/general health advice
- Assisting with minor procedures in the treatment room
- Wound care/ulcer care/doppler
- Chaperoning
- Undertake housekeeping duties including general tidiness and cleanliness of the nurses area and treatment room
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
- As detailed by QOF, assist in the delivery of effective implementation of management of chronic disease patients
- Infection control link nurse
Professional:
- Work in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct including ensuring NMC registration is valid.
- Ensure you comply with requirements for revalidation and maintain the knowledge and skills you need for safe practice.
- Continue professional development (CPD) to supplement existing knowledge to aid further autonomy within the role.
- Disseminate updates in current evidence to all in practice, particularly new learning from study.
- Recognise and work within the limits of your competence.
- Work with GP colleagues and Nursing Team to deliver services in line with current evidence. E.G NICE, Research, Identifying resource implications to Operation Manager/Lead Nurse.
- Contribute to the development of policies/protocols/guidelines within the practice and ensure compliance.
- Work collaboratively within the practice and across professional boundaries, networking and building relationships to streamline care pathways using a patient centred approach that breaks down barriers and crosses boundaries between Acute Care, Community services and social care services to meet the needs of patients.
Administrative:
- Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in patient notes.
- Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded.
- Attend and participate in practice meetings as and when required.
- Ensure restocking and maintenance of clinical areas and consulting rooms.
- Report any problems to the operations manager.
Organisational:
- Participate/initiate, conduct, analyses and disseminates audit and evaluation findings; implementing changes to improve patient care as required.
- Participate in research as required in the practice.
- Initiate/participate in evaluation of services delivered.
- Assist in direct provision of service priorities in line with current national service frameworks, government documents and practice objectives.
Communication:
- As well as the nursing team, there is a need to work closely with reception and administrative staff to ensure smooth running of the practice.
- There is also the need to establish and maintain good liaison with other surgeries and agencies including secondary care.
