Job summary

To engage with the local community and work closely with colleagues to provide outreach that raises awareness of the hospice and its services. The role focuses on building strong community relationships, listening to community members and increasing hospice visibility in the local area.

Main duties of the job

Identify & build relationships with community members and with healthcare, statutory and voluntary organisations to introduce them to the hospice and its services. Engage with community groups to raise awareness of the hospice and better understand local needsespecially among communities that face inequity in accessing care. Deliver community engagement initiatives and projects aligned with the hospices strategic objectives, including working with people with lived experience from minoritised groups. Act as a hospice ambassador, clearly communicating information about the hospice and its services to local people and organisations. Scope and develop collaborative opportunities with external organisations to deliver community engagement events and awareness programmes. Monitor and evaluate engagement activities and data, supporting reporting and ongoing development. Support awareness campaigns working with the wider Hospice team Collaborate across teams to ensure community engagement activities align with the overall goals and priorities of the hospice.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Community Engagement Worker to join our Community Services team. This exciting role will focus on building strong relationships across the South Lakes area, including Windermere, Grange, Ambleside, Coniston and surrounding communities. You will act as an ambassador for St Marys Hospice, raising awareness of our services, listening to community needs, and helping to ensure that more people can access the right support at the right time.

The successful candidate will be confident engaging with a wide range of community groups, partner organisations and individuals. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a genuine commitment to inclusion and reducing barriers to hospice care. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is proactive, compassionate and passionate about making a meaningful difference in local communities.
