Job summary
Join the Property and Facilities Maintenance team at Stratford-upon-Avon Hospital to undertake a wide range of work, which is complex and non-routine, at a number of properties in (South) Warwickshire.
This is a full time role, 40-hours per week to include days and evening periods up to 20:00 on a rotational basis.
Some elements of the job description may vary depending on the working location.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will
undertake a range of tasks in support of the Associate Director of Estates and Facilities within SWFT Clinical Services, and act without supervision ensuring an effective and
efficient service is provided at all times and that legislative, agreed
standards, targets are maintained to promote a positive and professional image.

SWFT Clinical Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust and provides facilities maintenance and outpatient pharmacy facilities in Warwickshire.
Subject to the Company and individual's performance, an annual discretionary bonus will be awarded.

- To undertake a wide range of work,

theoretical knowledge normally acquired through formal training and at least three
years relative experience. Responsible for fault finding, installation and
maintenance across the properties that SWFT Clinical Services Ltd provide Facilities
Maintenance Services
- Provides technical advice to the
other Estates maintenance staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety
standards and procedures
- Core skills will include, but are not
limited to, (subject to additional/recognised training where required) some or
all of the following Mechanical services:
Pressure systems; heating systems; DHW systems; CW systems; ventilation systems; medical gas systems.
- An element of multi-skilling across
the Estates trades will be required.
- Safety, competence and limitation of the individual's expertise will be assessed and evaluated as part of the multi-skilling process.

Qualifications
Essential
- A proven background within Maintenance or similar industries
- Experience/knowledge in the use of hand tools
- Experience/knowledge of mechanical, electrical and building maintenance
- Experience of using computer programmes
- Understanding of COSHH regulations
Desirable
- - Previous experience in working within the Healthcare environment
- - City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing, Mechanical Fitting or Mechanical Maintenance/Installation equivalent apprenticeship or approved training
- - Additional recognised multi skilled training course of HNC/HND combining both elements

- Skills/Knowledge:
- A good working knowledge of Permit to work and safe systems of work
- Knowledge of Mechanical systems in a hospital building services environment including installation, testing, fault finding and maintenance.
- Driving licence essential.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- IT literate and familiar with Excel and Word.
- Proficient in reading and writing in the English Language.
- Able to follow basic written and technical documents such as manuals and reports. Able to write simple reports.
- Able to speak and understand English and receive and issue instructions orally and in writing without risk of misunderstanding
- Provides and receives both complex and routine information to/from colleagues on a daily basis.
- Sometimes gives technical information to lay persons in terminology that allows for barriers to understanding. Able to ask local staff for reasonable access to equipment requiring attention.
- Gives essential local advice and training on correct use and operation of equipment, when necessary, e.g. if damage has been caused by misuse and may prepare written operational instructions for equipment on ad hoc basis when necessary.
- Able to understand and follow mechanical engineering manuals and engineering drawings, methods statements, permits to work, COSHH hazard warnings and data sheets, Approved Codes of Practice etc.
- Able to report facts to Mechanical supervisor with accuracy, using appropriate terminology.
