Job summary

The post holder will work in the Northern Ireland hub providing psychiatric leadership across the service.

You will provide senior clinical and psychiatric expertise to the multidisciplinary team contributing to the assessment, diagnosis and recommendations for treatment for veterans on both a residential and outpatient basis.

This role will be subject to an Access NI check.

Main duties of the job

General Overview of Role

* To provide leadership in psychiatry in outpatient services within the Hub region and to extend support and advice within the wider charity.

* To contribute to clinical leadership and deliver psychiatric expertise to the Hub with responsibility to assess, diagnose and recommend treatment of veterans.

* To be clinically responsible, with the senior psychologist and other professionals, for management of the care of veterans within the Hub.

* The post holder will also be expected to advise the Head of Operations/ Deputy Head of Operations on clinical matters, provide psychiatric leadership, and contribute to the development of interdisciplinary team working on a day-to-day basis in order to meet the clinical needs of the veterans referred.

* To support the service development via the provision of psychiatric and medical expert advice.

Salary: Combat Stress Consultant Psychiatrist salary scale

Hours: Part time - 18.75 hours per week. Hybrid working available. (Monday to Friday - working pattern to be agreed to suit all parties, however Tuesday must be a working day in attendance at the Hub).

Based at our Belfast Hub in Northern Ireland, with occasional additional remote support to Hubs in England.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • * Registered Medical Practitioner with GMC.
    • * Member of recognised Defence Society.
    • * Hold the MRCPsych or FRCPsych or equivalent.
    • * Completed higher training.
    • * On CCST register in General Adult Psychiatry / Forensic Psychiatry.
    • * The candidate has to be approved under the NI Mental Health Act Legislation.

    Desirable

    • * Post Graduate Higher degrees / training in Psychological Trauma.
    • * Knowledgeable of the psychological trauma literature and recent developments in the field
    • * Training in clinical management of personality disorders.
    • * CCST in Psychotherapy including CBT.
    • * Expertise in EMDR treatment.
    • * Experience in group therapy.
    • * Experience in treatment of veterans' mental health.
    • * Experience in working in a military environment /specialist knowledge of the military / veterans.
    • * Section 12 Approved and knowledge of Mental Health Act and relevant legislation.
