Job summary

You will be joining Combat Stress, the UKs leading Veteran's mental health charity, providing highly specialist clinical treatment and support to Veteran of the UK armed forces who have complex mental health needs attributable to their military service. You will be joining a trauma-informed organisation. All staff in all roles are trained in a common understanding of how traumatic experiences affect people, ensuring that every interaction with any staff member, supports a veteran's recovery.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities of the role within the Intensive Treatment Programme workstream will include working as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatments. Psychological interventions span the range of evidenced-based therapies for PTSD and Complex-PTSD, including TF-CBT, NET, CPT, CFT for trauma and PE (EMDR is also now being included in our treatment options for specific presentations). There will also be responsibilities relating to the clinical supervision of Trainee Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, and other professionals engaged in delivering psychologically informed interventions, where required.

About the role: Are you an HCPC Registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist and/or BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with experience providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for adults with a range of mental health needs, with a particular emphasis on trauma-related difficulties, and skills and experience supervising others? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist to join our team. We are looking for someone who would like to be a senior member of a passionate and integrated interdisciplinary team delivering holistic, evidence-based treatments to veterans and their families. The post holder will be innovative, enthusiastic and flexible and able to work both autonomously and as part of the team. You will be able to deliver evidence-based psychological interventions and veteran-centric care for veterans presenting with complex trauma-related mental health difficulties. You must hold an Honours degree in Psychology & Post Graduate Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society, or British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence & Eligible for chartered status by the BPS & Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a practitioner psychologist Or A Core Health or Social care Professional & BABCP accredited CBT Therapist Key elements of the role will include working as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatments. Essential

  • * Post Graduate Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society, or British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence or fully qualified CAAP (Adult)
  • * Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a clinical psychologist or a counselling psychologist
  • * Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
