For over a century we've been helping former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Today we provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues related to their military service. We provide a range of community, outpatient and residential mental health services to veterans with complex mental health problems. We provide services in-person, and via phone and online. About the role: Are you an HCPC Registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist and/or BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with experience providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for adults with a range of mental health needs, with a particular emphasis on trauma-related difficulties, and skills and experience supervising others? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist to join our team. We are looking for someone who would like to be a senior member of a passionate and integrated interdisciplinary team delivering holistic, evidence-based treatments to veterans and their families. The post holder will be innovative, enthusiastic and flexible and able to work both autonomously and as part of the team. You will be able to deliver evidence-based psychological interventions and veteran-centric care for veterans presenting with complex trauma-related mental health difficulties. You must hold an Honours degree in Psychology & Post Graduate Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society, or British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence & Eligible for chartered status by the BPS & Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a practitioner psychologist Or A Core Health or Social care Professional & BABCP accredited CBT Therapist Key elements of the role will include working as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatments. Psychological interventions span the range of evidenced-based therapies for PTSD and Complex-PTSD, including TF-CBT, NET, CPT, CFT for trauma and PE (EMDR is also now being included in our treatment options for specific presentations). There will also be responsibilities relating to the clinical supervision and line management of Band 7 Psychologists/ CBT Therapists and Trainee and Assistant Psychologists. All psychological therapists at Combat Stress are professionally managed with appropriate levels of supervision, peer support and specialist training. This role is subject to a DBS check. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• * Post Graduate Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society, or British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence or fully qualified CAAP (Adult)
• * Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a clinical psychologist or a counselling psychologist
• * Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
• And/Or
• * CBT therapist with a core clinical professional background (e.g., nursing, social work, occupational therapy) with BABCP accreditation

Desirable

• * Completion of further post-qualification specialist training in areas of practice relevant to the post
• * BABCP accreditation or eligibility for accreditation (psychologists)
• * Completion of post-qualification clinical supervision training

Experience

Essential

• * Minimum 18 months post qualification experience
• * Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings, including community, primary care, outpatient and inpatient settings
• * Substantial experience of delivering CBT
• * Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups presenting with problems that reflect the full range of mental health disorders experienced by veterans (e.g., PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety disorders, depression, substance misuse) of varying clinical severity
• * Experience of delivering evidence-based trauma-focused psychological therapies to adults with PTSD and/or C-PTSD
• * Significant experience in the clinical area where the post has designated special responsibilities
• * Experience of teaching or training
• * Experience of delivering supervision
• * Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts

Desirable

• * Experience of delivering mental health services to British Veterans
• * Experience of delivering clinical services, including psychological therapies, online
• * Experience of developing multi-media clinical resources
• * Experience of clinically supervising trainees and/or assistant psychologists or equivalent
• * Experience of delivering services within a context of co-production with experts by experience / service users and their families
