Job summary

We are currently looking to expand our clinical team with the addition of a Band 2 Support Worker.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support patients and carers with managing their condition; including but not limited to...

- Supporting the qualified nurses with measurement of patient's oedemateous limbs.

- Preparing patients for treatment.

- Application of compression garments.

- Providing patient education and support.

- Carry out prescribed treatments under supervision following appropriate training.

- Providing clerical support to the admin team when necessary.

The post holder will be an active and supportive member of the Lymphoedema team. Under supervision they will support the team in the provision of a high standard of patient/client care. Duties may also include some administrative work when required.

This post will demonstrate a range of caring/communication skills to meet the needs of the patient in a safe, caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy and respect. The post holder must have an interest in the specialist area and some basic general awareness of Lymphoedema. A willingness to undertake training within this specialism is vital.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE A*- D in English Language, or equivalent (e.g. Certificate in Adult Literacy at Level 1)
  • GCSE A* - D, or equivalent in Mathematics (e.g. Certificate in Adult Numeracy at Level 1)

Desirable

  • Level 2 QCF Diploma in Clinical Healthcare support
  • or
  • Level 2 NVQ in Healthcare Health & Social Care
  • or
  • Level 2 in Health & Social Care (NVQ, QCF, RQF)

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • - Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal
  • - Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
  • - Be committed to providing high quality patient care
  • - Possess competent IT skills (e.g. basic word, email, keyboard skills)

  • - Able to demonstrate calm, caring patient manner / attitude
