Job summary

Healthcare Assistant Are you an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) looking for flexible working hours? We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to come and join our bank team based within our paediatric primary care streaming service located at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital. Salary: Location: Alder Hey Childrens Hospital Contract: Bank & Salaried Shifts: Monday-Friday 08:45-15:00 & 15:00-21:15, Weekends 15:00 - 21:15

Main duties of the job

What will I be doing? You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Same Day Urgent Care Unit at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital and have responsibility for meeting and greeting children and younger people with their parents/carers, undertaking observations and supporting the wider clinical team to ensure smooth running of the service. Key duties also include: Ensuring all clinical rooms are set up before the start of each shift, including checking all medical and IT equipment is in place and working. Working as part of an MDT including GPs and Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) to ensure smooth running of the service Greeting and checking in patients on the clinical system upon arrival to the Same Day Urgent Care Unit. Conducting clinical observations on patients as required. Escalating to a senior Clinician immediately if there is any concern about the patients clinical condition. You may also be required to undertake urinalysis and other specimens as requested by the clinical team and repeat patient observations as required. What do I need? Experience of working in a healthcare environment such as an emergency department, walk-in centre or other primary care settings. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal when dealing with patients/parents/carers Strong record keeping skills Experience of working with Paediatrics would be advantageous but not essential Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation and a high commitment to quality and personal development. Experience of working to policies and procedures. Administration skills
