Job summary

Francis House Families Ltd operates residential accommodation for young people (over 16 years of age) and is a trading subsidiary of Francis House Family Trust.

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a House Lead to join our team at 92 Barcicroft Road, a new residential facility for young people with extremely complex medical needs. As the House Lead you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the house, ensuring that a person-centred approach is taken by promoting dignity, choice, independence and respect in all aspects of care.

Main duties of the job

You will be accountable to the Registered Manager and responsible for supervising staff within the house. This is an exciting time to join us as our facility has only recently been opened and you will have the opportunity to shape the culture and care provided to our young people.

You will also work alongside the House Lead at our other facility particularly in relation to clinical issues.

To be successful in this role you must have experience in managing staff and working with young people with complex medical needs. You should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and be committed to providing high quality care.

Hours 37.5 hrs

Core hours of work Monday Friday 9am to 5pm however, this senior post requires the holder to work the hours that the position demands

Job description

Job responsibilities

To be responsible for all aspects of the management of the staff team. This will include appraisals, managing sickness absence, holidays, disciplinary issues and training needs.

Maintain and develop the care planning and key worker system to ensure the needs of each resident are fully understood and met.

Develop approaches to ensure the views and interests of all residents are given a voice, especially those who lack capacity and/or those who experience communication difficulties.

Promote and support the development of a positive working culture within the staff team through personal example and effective day-to-day management.

Develop community networks and raise awareness of services and leisure activities available locally.

Ensure operational policies and procedures as required by statute are updated, adhered to and maintained.

Keep accurate records and prepare reports for the use of managers and regulatory bodies.

Manage the compliments, comments and complaints procedure and make recommendation for service improvement.

Support and develop quality assurance mechanisms to ensure the effective running of the service.

Establish and maintain effective links with parents/carers and other agencies.

Maintain own professional development and meet the requirements of the regulatory authority.

Perform all other reasonable duties that may be stipulated by the Directors to ensure the safe, legal and efficient operation of the facility.

Take the lead on clinical issues for the organisation and ensure that all care is delivered safely and effectively at 92.

Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals and other clinical partners.

Manage and oversee clinical assessments and those elements of care planning for all young people at 92.

Ensure the homes are compliant with all relevant clinical standards and guidelines

Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the staff at 92.
