Main duties of the job
This is an exciting new opportunity for Birmingham, offering the chance to shape and grow an emerging service that will make a real difference to the lives of our patients. The role will join a DBT team established in 2011, to provide model adherent therapy to working age and older adult men and women within a secure setting. Working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures, you would be asked to organise and provide training to support and develop the therapeutic milieu, alongside the provision of skills coaching, skills teaching and 1:1 therapy, supported by the Team Consult. Additionally the role will work with colleagues to reliably collect and interpret data regarding the outcomes of interventions provided, with consideration for opportunities for research and potential publication.
About you
The right candidate will be a health professional with eligibility for registration with a professional body (e.g. HCPC, BACP, NMC, BPS, SWE). You will be experienced in undertaking risk assessment and managing people with severe complex needs, including past trauma. You must have good communication skills. A recognised qualification as a DBT therapist (e.g. Foundation Level training) is desirable, though training would be available for the right candidate in the absence of this prior qualification. Training or experience in delivery of other psychological interventions is not essential but desirable.
