Job summary

An exciting opportunity has come up within the Deaf Service for a qualified Social Worker. You would be joining a high achieving and committed social work team within an inpatient hospital setting.

Main duties of the job

As a Social Worker you will be able to gain experience and develop a deeper understanding of complex mental health needs. You will have access to relevant training and a comprehensive ASYE programme.

You will work in partnership with our multi-disciplinary teams (including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Nursing and other Allied Health Professions) to provide holistic individualised treatment plans, and work directly with our patients on their recovery journey. Taking the lead with carer engagement and involvement ensuring that families are part of the team. You will become an expert in mental health legislation and practice, giving evidence at Tribunals and taking the lead on safeguarding.

Job responsibilities

Purpose of Role:

The post holder will support service users and their carers through a range of aspects through treatment during their stay.

Key Responsibilities:

To manage a workload as agreed by the Lead Social Worker and MDT.

To undertake work as agreed in relation to The Mental Health & Mental Capacity Act.

To prepare and present reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers Hearings.

To prepare and present Social History reports and reports for Clinical Reviews.

To attend relevant multi-disciplinary meetings and liaison with community social workers, other agencies and professionals.

Engage in 1-1 and group work with service users and maintain up-to-date records in clinical notes of all service user contacts. Liaise with service users families / carers and other statutory / voluntary agencies. Undertake child visit and home visit risk assessments making recommendations to the MDT.

Lead on planning for service users discharge and aftercare arrangements including aspects of safeguarding and multi-agency public protection arrangements.

Identify, visit and assess resources that may be considered appropriate for service users moving into the community and or other residential settings.

Adhere to MAPPA processes, making referrals and attendance at MAPPA meetings where appropriate. Undertake S42 enquiries as directed by the Local Authority.

Lead on the day to day co-ordination of safeguarding.

Attend and take an active part in Social Work team meetings.

Regularly attend prearranged supervisions with Lead / Senior Social Worker with prepared agenda items. Lead / Principle Social Worker Social Worker Demonstrate an awareness of mental health and childcare legislation in relation to all aspects of work within St Andrew's Healthcare.

Undertake mandatory training. Attend any training as advised by social work supervisor to maintain professional registration with SWE.

Deliver Social Work based training within the Division / Hospital as required Expectation to complete the Social Work post qualifying ASYE.
