Job summary

To support the development of a new single Patient Identification Centre service for primary care on behalf of the Leeds GP Confederation and act as a central communication link on primary care research issues within Leeds

The post holder will be expected to build trust, confidence and goodwill in relation to research activity within primary care in Leeds. They will work with other stakeholders including Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Leeds Community Health NHS Trust, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, West Yorkshire R&D and the NIHR Yorkshire and Humber RRDN in a matrix environment to wider participation in research activities across the city.

Main duties of the job

  • Understand, develop and lead on the implementation of a new Patient Identification Centre service for GP Practices across Leeds, addressing relevant governance challenges as required.
  • Contributing to the citys ambition to expand research opportunities across General Practice within Leeds in line with NIHRs strategic ambition.
  • Engage with GP practices to participate in the programme, enabling patients and colleagues maximum opportunity to be involved in research activity.

Working within the Leeds GP Confederation to undertake first line study feasibility in the following areas:

o Underserved communities

o Disease prevalence

o Management of long-term conditions

o GP practice research preference

  • To work with partners to provide assurance to the GP Confederation that financial allocations and flow procedures reflect activity as per agreed research contracts.
  • In partnership with other stakeholders, to provide study level guidance (where appropriate) to GPs and answer queries/provide further information.
  • To disseminate study expressions of interest as required and facilitate study uptake, and to manage GP responses, queries, and feedback.
  • To liaise with WY R&D and the NIHR RRDN re: study and primary care approval processes.

Produce timely reports and papers, using relevant appropriate IT packages where required including excel and other relevant software. This should be carried out to agreed criteria and plans developed for correcting mitigating circumstances if targets not achieved.

To attend local, regional and national meetings of relevance

To deputise for Senior members of the team, as appropriate.

To being open to contribute to new service development

To work to ensure best value for money for the service and the Leeds pound

Manage allocated financial responsibility, if required, for a delegated budget in line with financial rules and will be an authorised signatory where required.

  • Experience of Project management in a research setting, preparing plans/strategies for research projects and contributing to planning and formulation of strategies for a research service.
