Main duties of the job

We are currently seeking a proactive Maintenance Supervisor to lead our dedicated Facilities Team. In this role you will play a key part in ensuring our hospice remains a safe, fully operational, and well-maintained environment. Youll oversee both planned and reactive maintenance work and lead a small team of Maintenance Technicians, contractors, and volunteers. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines supervision, technical knowledge, and people management. Your ability to coordinate work efficiently, identify and resolve issues promptly, and ensure compliance with safety standards will be essential.

Here at Rainbows Childrens Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, were here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.

Location: Rainbows Hospice, Lark Rise, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 2HS Hours of work: On a rota pattern of 8:00am 4:00pm and 9:00am 5:00pm with an out of hours on-call rota. About the role Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to): Supervise the Maintenance Technicians and volunteers. Manage and coordinate contractors on-site. Support the Head of Estates and Facilities in identifying and resolving maintenance or compliance issues. Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to, including acting as a keyholder and responding to out-of-hours emergencies as part of a call-out rota. Work proactively to ensure the upkeep of the hospice's internal and external environments. Further responsibilities can be found by downloading the Job Description. Requirements We are looking for someone with proactive technical and leadership skills, along with a calm, flexible, and problem-solving approach. You should be comfortable leading a small team while also getting involved in hands-on tasks as needed. Solid working knowledge of general property maintenance including plant systems, electrics, plumbing, engineering, or grounds work. Proven experience in overseeing both planned and reactive maintenance schedules. Experience in managing or supervising staff, volunteers, and/or contractors. IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or willingness to obtain). Awareness of Legionella control and other regulatory compliance requirements.
