Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £62,215 - £72,293 per annum

Base: Colworth House, Colworth Park, Sharnbrook, Bedford, MK44 1LZ

Hybrid/Agile Working is Available

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance to lead our finance team. The successful candidate will provide complex financial and tax advice to the Executive and Budget Holders, and attend various Committees and the Board in the absence of the Chief Financial Officer.

Main duties of the job

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:-

• Manage and coordinate the finance team, providing training, coaching, and leadership.
• Lead the budget setting process and authorise payments and journals.
• Provide detailed financial advice to the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Leadership Team.
• Support the Chief Financial Officer in negotiating and monitoring Contracts and Service Level Agreements.
• Oversee the VAT function and liaise with HMRC as required.
• Monitor the financial performance of all services within the organisation.
• Meet regularly with budget holders to discuss financial performance and implement remedial actions.
• Provide training to budget holders on their financial responsibilities.
• Complete the monthly Management Board report on financial performance.
• Lead the external audit process and prepare Year End Accounts.
• Act as the finance lead on corporate projects and performance reporting.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), Degree level education.
• Minimum of five years' experience at a senior level within a finance department
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.
• A proactive and flexible team player with detailed focus.

You will be mainly located at our head office in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire but hybrid/agile working is available.
