Job summary
To work as part of the hospice facilities team under the direction of the support services manager to ensure a high standard of cleaning and domestic duties are delivered to meet the needs of the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Service Delivery
To carry out all aspects of cleaning duties as and when specified and in accordance with the housekeeping cleaning schedules.
To maintain a high standard of cleanliness within all areas ensuring infection control measures are adhered to.
To assist with in-house laundering and ironing of bedding and patient clothing.
Replenishing disposables, e.g paper towels, toilet rolls ect,
To ensure the safe removal and storage of clinical and general waste.
To ensure safe use and storage of chemicals.
To ensure the safe use of any mechanical cleaning equipment.
To respond to ad hoc requests from all members of staff when unscheduled housekeeping problems arise.
To order and maintain supplies as part of the housekeeping team.
To direct housekeeping volunteers with whom you might work with.
To always work in a safe manner as not to cause harm to oneself or others.
Customer Care
Help to ensure that all customers are satisfied with our service by being friendly and helpful at all times
Provide a prompt and effective response to customer enquiries and complaints ensuring the Support services manager is informed.
Business Development
To assist with the development of the service through positive participation in any new ideas and also putting forward your own ideas for improving and developing the service
Team Development
To act as a positive role model providing direction and guidance to staff and volunteers to ensure the service is delivered to the highest standard
Work co-operatively with other members of the housekeeping team, contributing to effective team working and a good team spirit and similarly across all departments.
To comply with all relevant policies and procedures and taking part in staff meeting and mandatory training activities to support the development of yourself and the team

Hours: Bank (flexible, as and when required)

The role involves working as part of a housekeeping team under the direction of our Facilities Manager to ensure and maintain a high standard of cleaning and domestic duties to meet the needs of the organisation, predominantly working in non-clinical areas.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential and previous experience of working in a care sector would be desirable.
This role offers flexibility of hours as well as weekend working and cover for annual leave and bank holidays and as such, flexibility is a requirement.
Successful candidate will be added to our ‘bank’ list of workers.
As such you will not be an employee of the Hospice but from time to time, we may call upon you to work for us to provide cover. Inclusion on our ‘bank’ list does not affect your right to work elsewhere and to be listed on other casual work lists without hindrance. Any offer of work is made purely at the discretion of the Hospice, and the Hospice is under no obligation to offer further work in the future.
