Job responsibilities

37.5 hours per week £24,000 with progression up to £26,500 per annum This post required flexibility to travel across the locality - Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Durham City, Easington, Derwentside and Chester le Street As an Employment Advisor, you will work in conjunction with Improving Access to NHS Talking Therapy services and Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to support people accessing primary care in their employment challenges. You will be required to provide a high quality, one-to-one service to our clients who have a range of mental health challenges to support them in job retention, employer liaison or employment/voluntary work search. We are looking for Employment advisors to join our team in Durham and Darlington. We have multiple roles available across Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Durham City, Easington, Derwentside and Chester le Street.This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to the principles of social inclusion, to work with adults with mental health needs. About the role With experience of working within a community based, mental health setting, you should be able to inspire, engage and motivate people. With the proven ability to identify barriers, understand need and support people to achieve their goals the role will include one to one engagement, facilitating activities within the service and community, administrative tasks, sign posting and engaging people in other provision. About you You will have experience of working with Mental Health and will be able to inspire and engage people and have the ability to identify barriers and understand client needs, while possessing excellent motivational skills. This will include supporting people within the employment sector, with knowledge of employment rights and job retention being advantageous. You will have an understanding of working with people with a variety of complex needs including mental health, your knowledge of working within a community-based service is essential and will have equipped you with the relevant communication and interpersonal skills required for the role. You will have awareness of/and or experience of working with people who have experienced mental health issues, particularly in accessing employment and will have the demonstrated skills and ability to help others identify and overcome barriers. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a proactive and highly motivated attitude. With a minimum of a Level 3 in Information Advice and Guidance, or similar, you will be willing to develop further as the role requires. Essential

• Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. IAG, Coaching, Counselling, Employment Law, Social Care)

Experience

Essential

• Experience of building and maintaining professional relationships.
• Experience of effectively managing and prioritizing caseloads
• Experience of providing vocational/employment support
• Experience of working within a multi - disciplinary team
• Proven experience of delivering in a results-based environment
• Experience of working with people who have experienced mental health issues
• Experience of assessing, planning and facilitating activities that focus on recovery and vocational skills
