Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to the principles of social inclusion to work with adults with mild to moderate mental health needs. Working in conjunction with NHS Trust Talking Therapies and DWP, the role supports people in accessing primary care provision to support with their employment challenges.

Main duties of the job

* Managing a complex active caseload of 40 to 50 people who have experienced mental health problems and who wish to gain, retain, or return to employment. * Working with clinical teams and MHM staff to identify the best outcomes for clients. * Focussing on the aspirations of the client to keep or obtain good employment, considering their strengths, difficulties, and barriers. * Assessing a client's employment goals and any concerns regarding their capacity for work, their confidence to perform tasks and any factors that may be issues for employment. This is to be achieved by using evidence-based interventions supporting the individual to develop strategies to address them. * Advocating on behalf of the person with current and prospective employers if necessary, aiming to identify work solutions that will overcome or minimise difficulties within the workplace. * Working with employers to raise their awareness of mental health issues including the effects poor mental health has on absenteeism, presentism and leaveism. * Developing in-depth knowledge of the local labour market, local support and new initiatives, taking into account the needs of the client to broker effective interventions. Including specialist schemes to help with retaining or finding employment. * Working closely with local agencies to identify appropriate job vacancies

About the role

This is a hybrid role which involves working with clients through a mix of home and community-based work, via telephone, and face to face appointments. You will support our clients with job retention as well as assisting them in finding and sustaining paid employment or voluntary work.

As part of a wider team, you will work closely with mental health workers, partners, and other agencies. You will have an interest in working within the employment support sector and knowledge of employment rights and job retention would be an advantage.

You will demonstrate an ability to prioritise a caseload and understand the principles of the Equalities Act and how it relates to Employment Rights.

About you

You will need a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and you will have experience of working with Mental Health and will be able to inspire and engage people and have the ability to identify barriers and understand client needs, while possessing excellent motivational skills. This will include one to one engagement and sign posting to other organisations.

You will have awareness and understanding of working with people with a variety of complex needs including mental health. We are looking for excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a proactive and highly motivated attitude. This post will operate throughout Worcestershire and use of own transport is essential. Appropriate mileage expenses will be provided.
