Job description

Job responsibilities

Role overview

Are you a caring and empathetic Healthcare Assistant with experience of working with children with complex medical needs? Do you enjoy delivering family-centred care and organising play activities for children and young people? Are you reliable, punctual and adaptable? If so, this could be the opportunity for you. We are looking for Healthcare Assistants to join our team to deliver quality holistic care. This is a great way to work around your personal commitments, while having the opportunity to develop and learn new skills.

We're looking for Healthcare Assistants who have experience of enteral feeds and administration of nebulized medication. Past experience in caring for children who require seizure management, have a tracheostomy or require long term ventilation will be beneficial. The ability to communicate and interact with children, including those with learning difficulties, in a variety of ways, including through play, is vital. You should be fluent in spoken and written English, computer literate, and able to write clear and accurate clinical notes.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will provide a high level of respite care to children and young people in our Residential service - this will include initiating and organising sensory play activities for the children in your care. At times you may work with children with challenging behaviour so experience in this area is beneficial.

Based in the multi-cultural borough of Newham, we operate a vital 24/7 service. Shifts are 11.5 hours across weekdays and weekends. We require applicants to be available to work weekday shifts as well as weeknights, weekends and bank holidays.

Richard House is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. Successful candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered for this role as Richard House is not authorised to sponsor overseas workers.
