Job summary

Seashell Trust is proud to have dedicated teams of healthcare professionals based on site to support the children and young people in our school, college and residential settings with their individual ECHPs, and are excited to be recruiting a Practising Physiotherapist to work within our friendly and supportive Ofsted & CQC registered multi-disciplinary health team.

Main duties of the job

Briefly you will be managing the physiotherapy care plans of the children and young adults who attend Seashell Trust. You will work with our students to deliver and manage all aspects of their individual physiotherapy programmes, contribute to the development of our service and provide supervision to the newly qualified Physiotherapists in the team. About us

Originally founded in 1823, Seashell Trust is a nationally recognised and registered charity based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. The trust consists of the Royal School Manchester (RSM), Royal College Manchester (RCM), 17 residential homes, outreach, and health & family services. Based on one site, we provide care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment, communication disorders and autism. Job description

Job responsibilities

To use the principles and practices of physiotherapy to assess and treat complex conditions to optimise the students physical needs and wellbeing. To accept clinical responsibility of a designated of caseload organising the work in line with identified service/clinical priorities and managing own time. To provide a physiotherapy perspective of the young person and contribute to multidisciplinary team work. Contribute to the MDT assessment process, informing long term goal setting, ongoing formative assessment, progress reviews, strategies and levels of support for students. To adhere to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and Health Professionals Council codes of ethics. Liaise with other health, education and local authorities to provide continuity of transferrable skills and support for individual students during their course programme and at transition from the Trust. To provide clear written therapy programmes and specialist reports in a timely manner. To provide accurate and comprehensive data about clinical input to enable the maintenance of statistical records. To assess with support, the need for specialist equipment, to improve the young persons functional abilities, and to assist in the procurement of this specialist equipment. To support and monitor qualified colleagues and technicians as required to undertake their day to day duties. To monitor and develop the physiotherapy service across site. To undertake regular supervisions (clinical, peer and line management supervisions) as defined and provided by the Trust. To provide clear written therapy programmes and specialist reports in a timely manner. To maintain up to date, accurate clinical records in line with professional requirements. To provide accurate and comprehensive data about clinical input to enable the maintenance of statistical records. To work with specialist support services lead in the delivery and development of the service. To train and supervise staff and students. To demonstrate commitment to, and adhere to the Charitys policies and procedures for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
