Job summary

Hope House Children’s Hospices have opportunities for Health Care Support Workers to join our team based in Oswestry. You will join us on either a full-time or part-time, permanent basis. You will be required to work twelve and a half hour shifts both days and nights within this role. In return, our Health Care Support Worker will receive a competitive rate of £24,778 - £27,273 FTE per annum (dependant on experience).

Main duties of the job

What we are looking for a Health Care Support Workers who:

To provide high quality care in accordance with the child/young person’s individual care-plan under the supervision of an appropriately qualified registered nurse.

To support families through advocating, navigating and signposting them to services to meet their needs within their community.

To participate fully in meeting the play, recreational and learning activities for the child/young person, utilising all resources available and in collaboration with the play leaders.

To assist in the checking & administration of medicines under the supervision of Registered Nurses and undertake all relevant training required to support safe medicines management.

About the Health Care Support Worker role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for motivated and dedicated Health Care Support Workers to join our care team at our Hospice in Oswestry, to provide excellent specialist palliative and end-of-life care to children and young people.

You will be a passionate and caring Health Care Support Worker working within our friendly and experienced team, providing holistic care to children and young people. We are a centre of excellence offering a fully equipped child-centred environment set in beautiful spacious grounds.

What we are looking for a Health Care Support Workers who:

  • To provide high quality care in accordance with the child/young person’s individual care-plan under the supervision of an appropriately qualified registered nurse.
  • To support families through advocating, navigating and signposting them to services to meet their needs within their community.
  • To participate fully in meeting the play, recreational and learning activities for the child/young person, utilising all resources available and in collaboration with the play leaders.

You will have previous experience of care work, particularly with children or young people and/or complex needs.  You will have the compassion and communication skills to put the needs of the child and their family at the heart of everything you do, so that we are able to provide the right care and support for them, when they need us most
