Hope House Children’s Hospice has an exciting opportunity for a registered Nurse (Children’s Nurse or Adult Nurse (RN) with paediatric experience) to join our care team to provide excellent specialist palliative and end of life care to children and young people. You will join our team based in Oswestry, on a full-time or part-time, permanent basis. In return, our Nurse will receive a competitive salary of £27,859 – £33,943 per annum, full time equivalent. (NHS AfC Band Equivalent Lower 5 – Lower 6)
We are looking for an exceptional Nurse with a passion for palliative care. As a valued member of our team, you will be providing respite care, end of life care and pain management care to children and young people who have been diagnosed with life limiting illnesses, examples include cancer, cystic fibrosis, Batten Disease, Muscular Dystrophy and cerebral palsy.

Main duties of the job
The key outcomes for your role include to:
Strategy
Supporting the successful operational implementation of our Care Strategy, incrementally increasing the number of children and families who access children’s palliative care services across Shropshire, Cheshire and Mid and North Wales
Continuity of Care
Undertake admissions, care plans, medication management, equipment allocation and care records in line with our policy framework
Actively promote a culture where palliative care is delivered in a friendly, welcoming and non-institutional environment, which is safe and fit for the needs of children, young people and their families
Deliver care with empathy and understanding, using a person-centred approach to put the chid, young person and their family at the heart of everything we do
Ensure effective liaison with the child or young person’s statutory multi-disciplinary team
Promote and participate in the use of innovation and technology to support the delivery of care
Safety
Ensure safeguarding incidents, never events and serious incidents are promptly recorded and reported to designated senior staff and Duty of Candour is adhered to
Ensure appropriate delegation of skills and competency in line with priorities of care, evidence-based practice and the needs of the child or young person
Undertake leadership of a shift ensuring safe and effective delivery of care following Hope House Children’s Hospices generic and child specific policies, procedures and risk assessments and safe systems of working
Adopt the guidance and direction of Senior Nurses to ensure evidence-based care is consistently delivered
Service Improvement
Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation and review of policy, standard operating procedures and audits
Adhere to local clinical standards and best practice, promoting and supporting any changes to practice
Respond to day to day care related complaints, concerns and compliments, escalating as appropriate.
External Partnerships
Maintain successful external partnerships with the general public, outside agencies and statutory and professional bodies to continually develop and improve care for our children and families
People
Support and inspire the care team to be the best they can be, ensuring they put our children and their families at the heart of everything we do
Mentor, develop and empower junior staff and volunteers to reach their full potential and responsibilities of their role. Supervise and assess student nurses.
