Job summary
Reporting to the Director of Care you will lead, develop and grow our family support and therapy services to ensure we offer fully accessible, equitable enabling support at both our Oswestry and Conwy hospices, ensuring visible leadership across all services.
As a registered health or social care professional you will ensure high levels of service delivery through your three managers. In addition key objectives will be to work closely with our Director of Care and Heads of Service to develop 7 day services, which harness technology, increases reach and offers a broader range of support to empower and meet the needs of our children and their families.
Main duties of the job
The key outcomes for your role include:
Strategy
Lead on the successful implementation of our Care Strategy, by ensuring that we continue to improve and develop access to our services to meet changing needs and increasing demand on children’s palliative care services across Shropshire, Cheshire and Mid and North Wales.
Continuity of Services
Lead on the responsive, reactive, safe and continuous delivery of all children’s family support and wellbeing services of which is evidence based, policy driven, and in line with legislation, best practice and Hope House Children’s Hospices Priorities of Care framework
Lead and foster a culture where family support and wellbeing services are delivered in a friendly, welcoming and non-institutional environment, which is safe and fit for the needs of children and their families
Safety
Work closely with the Heads of Care and Hospitality Manager to review and improve the environment infrastructure, infection prevention and control (IPC) and to maintain exemplary levels of cleanliness in the healthcare setting, promoting education and development on all elements of IPC (Infection Prevention and Control)
Work with the Safeguarding Lead to provide the Board with assurance that all matters pertaining to safeguarding are effectively managed in line with our policy and procedures.
Foster a culture where never events and serious incidents are promptly reported, investigated and resolved
Participate in incident management and root cause analysis investigation meetings as required to ensure compliance of professional practice standards to maintain effectiveness
Ensure the Family Support and Therapy teams are competent and capable to deliver a high standard of support in line with regulation, legislation, best practice and Hope House Children’s Hospices Priorities of Care framework
Lead on the development of the Family Support and Therapy teams knowledge and understanding of how to deliver safe, effective and responsive care following Hope House Children’s Hospices generic and child specific policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work
Work closely with the Head of Quality and Assurance to facilitate audits, sharing learning and feedback to improve service delivery
Service improvement
Work with the Director of Care and Heads of Service to lead on the ongoing development of service improvements for Family Support and Therapies
Advocate and lead the team in the effective use of technology/digital innovations and data to provide accessible, safe and compassionate care
Ensure feedback and recommendations from Hope Houses Children’s Hospice Quality and Assurance frameworks is used to inform and share future improvements to service delivery
Implement, test and evaluate ongoing improvements to the Family Support and Therapy services to ensure they drive strategic aims and remain fit for purpose
Lead on the management of Family Support and Therapy complaints, concerns and compliments
Support staff to conduct research to advance evidence based practice and to feed these learnings into service developments and improvements
External Partnerships
Create and foster new partnerships working opportunities with other charities, the general public, outside agencies and statutory and professional bodies to continually develop and improve Family Support and Therapy services for our children and families
Manage services in partnership with outside agencies where hospice staff are embedded within external teams
Play an active role in championing children’s palliative care and raising the profile of Hope House Children’s Hospice both nationally and locally
People
Lead, inspire and manage the care and volunteer team to be the best they can be, ensuring they put our children and their families at the heart of everything we do
Recruit, train, coach and empower the family services team to reach their full potential, ensuring all colleagues have clear responsibilities, accountabilities and development plans
Ensure all team and volunteer employee relations and welfare concerns are fairly and efficiently resolved, with the minimum disruption to service delivery
Money
Make the optimal use of the care teams professional skills, knowledge and experience in line with child dependency and budgets, ensuring services represent value for money to supporters and donors
