Job summary
The Integrated Family Healthcare GP Federation is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Nurse to support the delivery of our new ADHD pilot project in Hastings. This new service will provide assessment, treatment and ongoing support for patients aged 16+ who are awaiting a diagnosis of ADHD, under the 'right to choose' pathway.
Main duties of the job
We are recruiting a Mental Health Nurse who will play a key role in assisting patients through the ADHD pathway, diagnosing, assisting with medication titration and providing follow up care.
The postholder will work within small multidisciplinary made up of GPs, Pathway Navigators, Care Coordinators and the wider management team.
Full training will be provided including UKAAN diagnostic training and SPFT led ADHD assessment training to ensure that clinicians are supported and competent in the role.
The post holder would be expected to provide a holistic approach to assisting patients in making meaningful changes to their lifestyle and wellbeing.

We comprise of 8 General Practice surgeries and medical centres across Hastings and St Leonards, serving a diverse population of 100,000 patients.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care
- Support patients during medication initiation, titration and monitoring mental health and wellbeing
- Identify and escalate clinical risk to appropriate clinical leads, in line with protocols and in line with NICE guidelines
- Support patients with understanding their new diagnosis of ADHD, suggested treatment options, lifestyle adjustments and self-management strategies
Care Coordination
- Work closely with the ADHD service delivery manager and care coordination team to support patient flow through the service and timely delivery of care
- Participate in MDT discussions, case reviews and clinical governance meetings
- Signpost patients to and liaise with other local services, including GP Surgeries, SPFT and any appropriate voluntary sector partners
Record & System Management
- Maintain accurate and timely consultations within the clinical records using agreed clinical systems (full training will be provided)
- Contribute to outcome tracking, reporting and service evaluation activity as required.
Service Development & Governance
- Contribute to the development of the service and clinical pathways to improve patient experience

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration
- Experience working with adults with mental health needs in the community or in primary care
- Previous mental health training
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support patients effectively
- IT literate and experience in working within a clinical system
- Ability to work autonomously within clearly defined clinical protocols and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable
- Experience in working with ADHD or neurodivergent patients
- Experience in delivering group based interventions
