We have an exciting
opportunity for a newly qualified GP to join Lordswood Medical Group.
The role is offered on a
fixed term contract basis until 31/06/2026 and we would
consider up to 7 sessions depending on applicant.
The post holder will need
to be within 2 years of CCT date to be eligible for the position.
Executive
Summary
- SystmOne,
Accurx Total Triage and Ardens Template embedded practice.
- We
are a 3 site GP practice with a single M-number and would expect the
post-holder to work across all 3 sites.
- Typical
clinic includes 14 patients per clinic with a small amount of clinical admin.
- Majority
of prescriptions are managed by our prescribing team along with much of our
docman being managed by our workflow team.
- It
is rarely required to do a home visit as these are typically undertaken by our
paramedics.
- We
are a clinician led total triage practice and allocate the Oncall and triage
sessions equally and fairly amongst our GP workforce.
- We
offer lots of learning opportunities within the practice and have multiple GPs
with extended roles (including Dermatology, MSK, Diabetes, Womens health) and
would be happy to support and encourage GPs to pursue their interests.
- We
are a teaching practice and have 3rd and 4th year UoB
medical Students along with GP Registrar trainees.
- Lordswood
is also a registered research practice undertaking studies with NIHR
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will manage
a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care
setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and
temporary patients across the group, dealing with a diverse range of health
needs.
This will include, but is
not limited to, surgery and telephone consultations, administration, complying with the practices
contracts (GMS/PMS/enhanced services/DES).

OHP was set up by local GPs who are passionate about providing high
quality primary care and using their time and skills effectively to benefit
patients..
We are currently a GP
partnership of 30 practices with 39 surgeries,
serving around 280,000 patients in Birmingham,
Wolverhampton, and Shropshire.
Our head office is based in Cotteridge, but this role will be based Lordswood House Practice, one of Quinton and Harborne PCNs practices.

Clinical Responsibilities
- In accordance with the
Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will be available to undertake a
variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations,
visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and
dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Triage patients presenting
to the surgery by telephone, online and in person
- Making professional,
autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred
or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care
needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for
disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with
patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols,
developing care plans for health and promoting healthy lifestyle strategies and
education
- Manage long-term conditions
and patients with complex problems
- Recording clear and
contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit
purposes and complying with QOF requirements
- Delivering enhanced
services
- Check, manage & process
patient test results
- Refer patients to secondary
care and/or relevant organisations and internally within the PCN (eg to
additional roles members of the PCN team) as required
- Compiling and issuing
computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written
prescriptions whenever possible) in line with local and national guidelines

with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is
clinically appropriate
- In general the post-holder
will be expected to undertake the duties and responsibilities associated with a
GP working within primary care in a surgery on a PCN basis
