Job summary

We are looking for a Safeguarding Care Coordinator to join our growing team at Our Health Partnership, working for and across the Alliance of Sutton Practices Primary Care Network. The PCN consists of 3 practices covering the areas of B72 and B76.

This role is for 27.5 hours per week.

The purpose of the role is to provide safeguarding administrative support to Practices with the PCN. You will be working with Safeguarding Leads from each Practice to achieve a consistent, safe and effective team approach to safeguarding.

Please note, our head office is in Cotteridge but you will be based at a location within the PCN.

Main duties of the job

A good understanding of General Practice, Primary Care Networks and Safeguarding is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. This role, would suit someone who is a forward-thinking, innovative, and an enthusiastic individual who is self-motivated and keen to work collaboratively across the primary care network. You should have the ability to be organised, prioritise your workload effectively and exercise sound judgement when faced with conflicting pressures.

About us

Our Health Partnership was set up by local GPs who are passionate about providing high quality primary care and using their time and skills effectively to benefit patients.

We are currently a GP partnership of 34 practices with 43 surgeries. 176 GP partners and circa 80 salaried GPs in Our Health Partnership serving around 300,000 patients in Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Wolverhampton, Solihull and Shropshire.

Job responsibilities

1. Safeguarding policies

Help the practice to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are up to date and consistent with agreed best practice as defined by local and national guidelines.

2. Safeguarding training

Support the practice in developing/accessing appropriate role-based training for members of staff. Help the practice run training events which encourage a multidisciplinary approach to safeguarding.

3. Information governance

Provide advice and training on the recording and coding of safeguarding relevant information within the electronic patient record. Support the preparation of timely, relevant, and proportionate safeguarding reports.

4. Clinical Governance

Facilitate the implementation of templates and other decision support tools to support best practice in safeguarding, as recommended by the safeguarding team and audit the use of same.

5. Safeguarding assurance

Support the practice in achieving CQC compliance with respect to the safeguarding of staff and patients.

6. MDT facilitator

Take a key role in the development and running of an effective practice safeguarding MDT for children and vulnerable adults. Ensure that the practice has a vulnerable patient register which is kept up to date.

7. Working together

Help the practice foster effective relationships with local safeguarding partners. Ensure the timely sharing of relevant information, both verbally and in a structured report, when safeguarding concerns arise in respect of both children and adults.

8. System learning

Support the practice in responding to statutory requests for information required by the local authority to carry out local child or adult safeguarding case reviews and assist the practice with section 42 enquiries. Disseminate learning and support the implementation of review recommendations.

9. Referral pathways

Promote the understanding of local safeguarding referral pathways, including Early Help and support services for victims of domestic abuse.

10. Respect for Patient Confidentiality

The post-holder should always respect patient confidentiality and not divulge patient information unless sanctioned by the requirements of the role.

11. Special Working Conditions

This role may require some remote working from home.

The post-holder is required to travel independently between practice sites (where applicable).
